BEST BET: RACE 2, MARTEN LAKE

FIRST RACE

ROCKET PLAN ran hot and cold against tougher on the grass in his last few for $20K. He has some positive experience around two turns on the main track, including an eighth-place finish in the 2016 Queen’s Plate. STREET LEGAL is also dropping from $20K B company on the lawn. Note that both of his wins came over this distance on the Tapeta. ITSTARTSWITHADRINK is stretching out to a suitable distance for his second start after a one-year break.

SECOND RACE

MARTEN LAKE stalked along the inside en route to a head score in an identical event following a five-month layoff June 8. He’s worked quickly since, and can track all the speed again here before going in for the kill. PERFECT FORESTER folded in the final furlong last time after leading the way in a second-level optional claimer won by the hard-knocking Boreal Spirit. THREE RING CIRCUS dueled up front en route to finishing a close third behind the top pick in his second start back June 8. He might be less aggressive with blinkers off.

THIRD RACE

TIMBERLINE showed little last time in a $12.5K starter on the grass, in her first try off a $10K claim. She should be considerably more effective in this $12.5K route on the main track, over which she’s a five-time winner. A MANS DRINK left TIMBERLINE behind her in second when taking her season opener after a three-wide stalking trip May 27. Garcia retains the mount and is 3 for 6 at the meet for trainer Kevin Attard. THALIAS FIRE was a wide fifth vs. $8K males in her latest. She was previously a belated third behind the top two picks.

FOURTH RACE

DANNY’S RUSH went four-wide on the turn before closing for second when dropping back down to this level for his second race off the sidelines June 23. MONETARY SYSTEM got away slowly when bumped before checking in fourth in a $16K route June 29. The longtime maiden is turning back to the more suitable distance of seven furlongs. FIREY GIZMO ran five-wide on the turn when fifth behind the top pick June 23. He’s adding blinkers, and should be used underneath in the gimmicks, along with FLASHY TRIAL.

FIFTH RACE

VICTOR’S FLAG trounced maidens after a freshening in his penultimate start in an OS/$40K sprint on the Tapeta. Throw out a subsequent flat sixth-place finish in a turf route at this NW2 OS allowance/$40K level. AMEN ALLEY was second in his penultimate start at this class and distance behind Cross Border, who returned to beat $40K NW2 stock with an 81 Beyer. REDOUTE’S LIGHT is dropping from an N1X/optional claimer for 3yos to where he could get back on track.

SIXTH RACE

PICASSO MOON dusted $20K conditioned opposition when halving in value about a month ago. She shouldn’t be out of her league in this $32K contest. GWENDOLINE H aired when returning from the sidelines in a fast sprint at this price May 27, but then bounced in an inflated second-level optional claimer. She’s a wild card with Contreras retaining the mount. UNSEEN ANGELS, a five-time winner in 2017, should join the fray in her second race after a five-month vacation.

SEVENTH RACE

TWICEASLUCKY ran wide while against the grain of a speed bias when a distant third in an OS
