BEST BET: RACE 8, MISCHIEVIOUS LASS

FIRST RACE

SOLAR CORONA has had lots of chances, yes, (15) but her two best races, including her most recent outing June 28, came on this track. She handles the track and the distance and might be poised to get that elusive diploma. BAD AND BOUGIE showed speed vs. tougher on turf and dirt at SA this spring. The drop surely helps and her speed can help her flee the outside post and make her the one to catch. CURLINA CURLINA has had lots of chances (27) but at least a couple of her best outings came on this track at this trip.

SECOND RACE

This is a redraw of a race cancelled July 6. I’LL WRAP IT UP comes here in sharp form with two solid 2nds at this level at SA. The first of those came sprinting so he handles this trip just fine. AJAC comes here sharp going shorter over this track in recent months. The good news is you know he likes it here and he’s handled this type of trip well before. TIZ LOVE was a good 4th vs. some tough cheaper restricted claimers here June 28. That was his first start in almost nine months so he can improve.

THIRD RACE

COPPER COWGIRL has shown speed sprinting and with that trait and two races under her belt after five months off she may be poised for a top try as they stretch her out. She worked well here Saturday. GRAY DIVA was a decent 3rd sprinting at this level at SA May 28, her first start in eight months. She then found $30K foes too tough there June 15 but is back down in price. She routes for the first time but is certainly bred to handle this trip. BECOMES A QUEEN stalked the pace and kept to her task to finish 3rd sprinting at this level here July 1, albeit well beaten (7 lengths). At least that shows she handles this track and that this level may suit. She has something the top two don’t - route experience.

FOURTH RACE

This is a redraw of a race cancelled July 6. SHARP HOLIDAY was freshened a couple months, dropped when she resurfaced here earlier this spring and appears to have come back much improved. She whipped $2,500 N2L claimers here May 20, was claimed, then beat $5K NL foes here June 1 and gets another encouraging bump in price for this. BRIARTIC GAL gamely won a route at SA May 10 before tossing in a clunker in another route there May 28. She’s given an encouraging price hike and while she’s been routing of late she ran 2nd the only other time she tried this shorter trip. LA GALY makes her first start of the year and has run well off the bench.

FIFTH RACE

CHAMPAGNE HONEY has been knocking on the door since February and looks primed to break through. Those last four good outings all came at this level at this type of trip and a couple nice works since her good 2nd at SA June 8 say she’s set. HAILEY RACHELE showed speed vs. tougher straight maidens last year and returns with the most important drop in the game. While that’s a plus, this is also her first start in nearly eight months so there is a layoff to overcome. MAGNOLIA’S HOPE added blinkers for her 2nd start at SA June 2 and showed speed before tiring. In her defense, not only was that just her 2nd start, she was facing straight maidens. She takes an important drop and worked well since.

SIXTH RACE

BRICKHOUSE hasn’t done much in his three starts vs. winners. In his defense, that all came vs. tougher. He did show speed vs. $16K N2X foes here June 29 before finishing 5th. Today’s drop may be just what the Dr. ordered. LIBERTY JACK was no factor last time out at SA April 28 but that was routing vs. more expensive. He’s been freshened since, drops and
