BEST BET: RACE 3, DEESSE NIKE

FIRST RACE

ADIOS MIA placed in each of her last four outings, including a second behind a runaway winner going a mile and a sixteenth a month ago. Against this light group of $12.5K maidens, she should finally break through with the capable Singh back in the saddle. SHOW ME THE PRIZE closed belatedly from off fast splits for fourth in a recent $16K turf route at Fort Erie. She deserves another chance around two turns on the Tapeta. FLECK is coming off a third on the grass at the border oval. Her lone route start on the Tapeta wasn’t bad.

SECOND RACE

GORGEOUS KITTEN dominated $20K conditioned opposition in his local bow June 23, a turf route which contained three runners who came back to fare well. The classy 4yo is moving up off a claim, and isn’t out of his league in this $32K tilt from a Beyer perspective. SECOND STREET rallied wide from off slow fractions to lose by a nose as the chalk in an identical spot in his local debut June 22. Da Silva retains the mount and is 8 for 24 at the meet for McKnight. ARTHUR’S PASS is descending from N1X company while switching to the grass, on which he won the all-gray starter handicap last summer.

THIRD RACE

DEESSE NIKE closed for second on a speedfavoring track two back on the main track, and was second again most recently after tardy start on the grass. There’s very little speed in this contest, and perhaps she can stalk the projected slow pace before making a winning bid. WHISPERING SPEAKER saved ground on the turns before rallying from off sleepy fractions for second in each of her last two outings at this class and distance. TRINI BREWNETTE never fired last time in a key seven-furlong sprint. The 5yo is stretching back out to the distance over which she took the restricted South Ocean Stakes at 2.

FOURTH RACE

SILENT CONSORT finished a clear second behind a front-running winner the only time she competed on turf vs. $32K maidens June 1. A subsequent performance in a higher event on Tapeta was disappointing, but she could have these $20K maidens on the turf within her sights. SUNSET CRUISE was bumped at the break before checking in four lengths back in fifth when moving to the grass for her second start in a recent $25K seller. LOST POINT is plunging from the maiden special ranks to where she could get back on track. Toss DIVA ON A DIME in the super.

FIFTH RACE

BREWS TOONIE TOSS wasn’t an impact player in a recent $16K claimer. The drop to $8K should enable her to be a major player in the third race of her form cycle. SHOW SHAPE comes off a wide fifth for $12.5K behind a sharp Danzig Rainbow, who subsequently doubled up against $10K distaffers. She hasn’t shown much since the fall, but could be coming around. PRIDDY FAIR won a longer sprint at this price in her penultimate start, and is coming off a flat third at a notch higher. SPLENDID GLORY could make some noise if she breaks alertly, which she doesn’t often do.

SIXTH RACE

BELLE DANSEUSE was beaten four lengths on a speed-conducive track the only time she went long on the Tapeta May 19. Her two subsequent races weren’t anything to write home about, but she’s halving in value to a new low, and is eligible to wake up at a square price. SHEZTEN THE HARD WAY was competitive against slightly easier in her last few. She worked a quick half the other day, and should join the fray with the bug Kimura taking over. SAMS DESTINY came from off a lively pace to crush $10K maidens with a good Beyer a month ago. The race shape probably won’t be as favorable to her in this acid test.
