BEST BET: RACE 1, RISE UP

FIRST RACE

The card features a high-end optional claiming sprint for 2-year-olds that drew a pair of Texas stakes winners in Wakefield and My Bling. In the opener, RISE UP gets the nod on class as the millionaire who has been facing steeper towers over his rivals on earnings. NYM was third for this price last out and is a logical choice back. VANQUISH was a dominant winner over the N3L crowd last time while old hand BOB’S GONE WILD is looking for career win No. 17.

SECOND RACE

CATS DIAMOND showed some speed in her debut last out and note the winner of the race has since gone on to place in a stakes at Louisiana Downs. As for CATS DIAMOND, like that she is a January foal and that she adds blinkers in what is a high-percentage equipment move for Calhoun. IMA PRETTY CHEROKE hooked Silvercents last time and it was 103 degrees when that race went July 1. Silvercents has since gone on to become a stakes winner at Louisiana Downs. MORO COMPASS shows a nice series of works for her bow.

THIRD RACE

SOCKS is back on the main track and when last seen on dirt she was third against statebred allowance foes at WRD. Of late, she’s been running on turf at Canterbury. JOSIE THE E F FIVE is back with statebreds after picking up a check against open company last out at Churchill. She looks like a prime player and also has reason to move forward here, in what will be her second start since last Remington. SUNDAY NIGHT MISS gives up recency to these as she has not run since December, but what she lacks there she makes up for in class as a stakes winner - and the score came at one turn at Remington.

FOURTH RACE

REST is back in the conditioned claiming ranks after a stakes start and that makes her appealing on class. MIDNIGHTCINDERELLA has never failed to bring home a check and as such is appealing for her consistent nature. RIVER DEPUTY meets winners for the first time and owns one of the field’s best last-race Beyer Figures.

FIFTH RACE

WAKEFIELD moves back into the overnight ranks after a pair of stakes starts - one he captured at Lone Star and the other he ran second in at Evangeline Downs. He is a versatile sort and from his outside post might get an ideal stalking trip off the speed situated to his inside. DANCE TO MY SONG was a memorable debut winner in June at Lone Star and was flattered when the runner-up came back to account for a maiden special weight at Lone Star and a stakes at Prairie Meadows, earning a Beyer Figure of 80 for the latter race in which he romped by double digits. DANCE TO MY SONG was stakesplaced last out and has reason to move forward in his second start in two months. MY BLING was a stakes winner last time, over stablemate DANCE TO MY SONG in a $65K division of the Texas Stallion Stakes at Retama Park. The Beyer Figure of 73 that MY BLING earned is the best last-race number in the field here at Remington. Fun race.

SIXTH RACE

HUMOR was a nice-looking winner two back at Lone Star and a repeat of that performance might make him tough to handle in this spot. He’s also a well-bred sort as a son of Distorted Humor and the Grade 1-winning mare Film Maker ($2.2M). SPEEDY FELLAR seems like a

talented sort. He’s back in the overnight ranks off a stakes start and also is returning to turf, where he registered his most recent victory.

CHOCOLATEICECREAM fits with these.

SEVENTH RACE

LADY BAY cuts back to one turn after a solid effort in her two-turn debut and that race should serve her well at this seven-eighths trip, which can be a demanding distance. LADY BAY has put up her best Beyer Figures to date at one turn. MRS HOWARD is making a rare start on dirt after a series of turf outings and note her previous main track starts came against steeper. DRAMA TREE seems like one who might like the bit of added ground she picks up.

EIGHTH RACE

ROWDY THE WARRIOR is back in the Oklahomabred ranks after spending time racing in Arkansas and Churchill. He is appealing as one who has seen steeper. He also draws well and he owns the field’s best last-race Beyer Figure. A concern is whether the closer will get the right pace set up. NIGHT STRIKE is another back with Oklahoma-breds after racing in Texas and Louisiana. For this trip he adds blinkers, which is a high percentage move for Calhoun. BIGSHOT LACEWELL is a sprint-to-route prospect who has a chance to steal away and he’s had success at two turns in the past.

NINTH RACE

JAMARS WHITEGOLD is back in the maiden ranks after facing statebred stakes foes last out at Retama Park. He owns what ranks as this field’s best last-race Beyer Figure and overall owns a series of competitive numbers. MAKE IT WORK finished in front of top choice two back. NEWPORT BEACH might take to turf based on aspects of his pedigree. He worked a bullet halfmile in his final prep for his Remington debut Aug. 28.
