BEST BET: RACE 2, ALL GOOD TIMES

FIRST RACE

OVER TO YOU rallied with interest in her last appearance on the turf, back in February, and that was despite a slow pace; return try this summer was moved to the dirt but she didn’t run badly in defeat considering she caught another mild pace. LADY CAVALIER has proven speed and could be the one to catch; caught up in a duel on the dirt in her local debut. CHAR’S FAIR LADY was well off the board in her first and only start on the grass but that was a very quick race, and against better; has lots of upside.

SECOND RACE

ALL GOOD TIMES had excuses in her four losses since the easy score at Delaware back in June, facing better each time and also racing against the race flow in her latest; should benefit from a better set up this time around. RIVA BELLE has speed and the rail and she comes off a solid effort for the place in her latest; dangerous if loose. SHE’S GOT THE BEAT has some early zip of her own and she should be a factor from the bell; forward trip would be an edge if the pace is in fact controlled.

THIRD RACE

QUALITY STEP got knocked around a bit at the start of his debut and he weakened late after rushing up to contend, an effort that may be better than it looks, as his works leading up to the debut were strong; expecting more speed as long as he breaks cleanly. INVIGOROUS is obviously the one to beat off that debut effort, and the Beyer does stand out; may or may not get another loose lead but he may be too good for these nonetheless. BOSS OF BOURBON ST is kin to two winners, Big Louie D and Felix in Fabula, both f whom earned over $100,000; typically fast works from this Stidham trainee.

FOURTH RACE

INCHESKY had a legitimate pace excuse in his debut and he ran well in both of his two starts at this meet, including a solid effort in her latest when in against better; drop in price off the layoff raises a flag but he clearly is one of the main contenders in here. The Chad Browntrained INDUSTRIAL LOGIC will be favored based on the class drop and the connections; addition of blinkers — a 30% angle for the barn — only adds to the appeal. BREXIT REVENGE middle moved in her latest and faded; prior Beyers fit well enough and she should be a square price.

FIFTH RACE

BOXING BETTY hasn’t had a lot of racing luck this year, as she has been against the race flow in four of her five starts, two of them extreme pace scenarios (note “S” symbols in DRF pp’s); should get a better set up here, and if she gets a clean trip she may be able to make the last run at a square price. SIMPLY GREAT dueled for the lead from the start and she held well until the late stages; logical threat off that line. MONTEREY MARIANNE

benefited from the race flow in that last score, at Delaware, but the 56 Beyer she posted gives her credibility here.

SIXTH RACE

DANCIN DEBBIE was up the track against better last time out but that was no easy trip, as she was involved in a pace battle from the start, through quick early splits, and that was a race which set up well for the closers; she can also rate off the pace and make one run, and that versatility should help her work out a trip. COAX was no match for the winners in either of her last two but she had little chance to close from far back, given the pace scenarios; fast fractions needed. GLOTONA AGAIN is another who needs a favorable set up; chance for exotics with the right kind of trip.

SEVENTH RACE

PARTING THE RED SEA is the best guess in a wide open field; he was up the track in both of his two starts against winners thus far but he had traffic trouble two back and he was against the flow last time, as that was a race where speeds held a big edge. FIELD ADVANTAGE won his last two by open lengths and he’s the one to catch and beat here as a result of those efforts and figures; there’s other speed in here but he obviously has to be respected. SPEED RUNNING WILD is impossible to take on top given his overall record but he did run deceptively well in defeat in his latest.

EIGHTH RACE

NICKI DE NEPHEW was overmatched in his latest, at Laurel, but his prior Beyers and efforts make him a serious threat with these; tactical speed should mean he works out a trip regardless of how this race shapes up. SILVER BEACH is more of a stone closer but he could make the last run if the pace is quick and contested; note the solid effort for the place two back, the last time he was in for a tag. BLAME THE THIEF is in for a tag for the first time in his career and he has back figures that are good enough to beat these.

NINTH RACE

ROCKFORD came back from a short break with his running shoes on, just missing in both of his two starts and posting solid Beyers; clearly dangerous today if he’s able to run back to those figures. BORSA VENTO usually goes longer but he has won sprinting, and he figures tough here if he gets enough pace to make the last run; note barn’s record with horses turning back in distance. TOWN POLICY has won three straight; he meets better but he’s certainly capable of winning again if able to shake loose and dictate the tempo.

TENTH RACE

KILRONAN was a strong 2nd at a big price in his local bow last time, pressing the pace from the break despite a wide post and holding very well through the wire; easy to like off that effort and the 73 figure he posted there. SEEKING GLORY was no match for the heavy favorite in his latest but he ran well in defeat, and the Beyer he posted two back gives him more credibility; has speed but can also rate. GRAHAM’S WAY

ELEVENTH RACE

NO HONOR NO DEAL was off the board in his debut but the 46 Beyer he put up there makes him very tough with this group, and the drop in class today only makes him more appealing; easily forgiven for the failed turf test last time. UNCLE POCKETS switches from turf to dirt for trainer Jason Servis, who has solid stats with that angle, and others; hard to go past these two given the connections. FOREST RIVER merits respect based on that decent debut, and the resulting Beyer.

TWELFTH RACE

SASSY CHUB had trouble at the start of her turf debut last time out and that cost her, as speed is a big part of her game; betting that she’s better on the turf than she showed there, and with a clean getaway she should have a chance to prove it. MISS MARIS rallied some in her first start on the green but given today’s inside post she should be expected to be more involved from the start, assuming she breaks well; picks up jockey Paco Lopez. ROMAN HOLIDAY registered a decent figure in that maiden win when she was last seen, and trainer Kathleen DeMasi excels with turf sprinters; has to be considered.

THIRTEENTH RACE

ACT OF MADNESS has steady Beyers, and though he didn’t run all that well at Delaware last time his runner-up effort here two back was solid, when he chased the heavy favorite, who enjoyed a loose lead. WATCH YOUR WORDS was a game winner in his latest and he’s a threat to repeat here if he runs back to that effort here; best when on the lead but he can also take back and make one run. PAX IN TERRA was off form prior to the layoff but his best back figures make him a creditable threat today; needs pace.
