BEST BET: RACE 1, PLAY THAT TONE

FIRST RACE

PLAY THAT TONE, the day’s best if this one goes as carded on turf. Exits another good showing when dropped to this level last time and sitting on a win with this kind. Looks loose as can be on the front end with clean beginning. C C’S FREEDOM a lightly raced filly who showed improvement last time and perhaps the main threat with another forward move. SUNFEST finished less than a length behind preferred choice in their previous meeting and a key player at her best but remains winless after 16 tries. Hard to take on top at another short price.

SECOND RACE

SAMMIE SUNSHINE could not fend off the suddenly red hot Whip Me Into Shape as the odds on choice last time, the latter flattering the effort returning to finish 2nd under a $35K tag at next asking. Four time winner should make amends at yet another short price. RIGHT ON regressed a bit off the claim but still showed well over the wet going vs N3L’s on Labor Day. Looks like chief threat to the heavy favorite.R LUCKY DICE broke a step slow to perhaps lose best chance first off the claim for present connections. Can grab minor award with cleaner beginning.

THIRD RACE

VITAEMI back to proper level after being a bit overmatched in last pair. May not look back with these. SILVER THREADS back to the turf, a surface she’s handled well in the past against tougher. Figures forwardly throughout. BARBADOS KITTEN ran well turning back to five-eighths in latest, fits with this kind.

FOURTH RACE

R TRUE SENSATION by above average debut sire Yes It’s True with plenty of miles in the a.m. prepping for bow. Looks well potted at first asking in relatively weak spot for the money. HENDAYA another new face who has flashed speed in the morning and barn can have one ready off the bench. Tab board for further hints. ISADORABLE AIDA showed speed launching career vs. similar and should improve with a race under her belt.

FIFTH RACE

ABBOT gets the shaky nod in always wide open type of event. outlasted in form Flashy Chelsey in latest over the surface, should relish return to turf, weather permitting. SPRING UP back over his preferred surface as well today off dismal showing on dirt. Toss a line through that one and he becomes a major player at his best. COMPLETELY BONKERS a big question mark dropping to this level off a long layoff. Working well enough to expect a solid effort off bench for hard knocking gelding.

SIXTH RACE

Aggressive placing of horses like SONG OF MELODY one reason barn winning at a crazy 47 per cent clip at the meet. Five time winner exits career best off the claim for present connections, need only repeat last try to take another. GALILEO’S AFFAIR and RETURN drop in price off recent claims, the former having won two of last three, both at a mile, and likely to be coming best at the end. Return a bit more of a question showing just one work and taking price plunge since haltered for $16K off a second straight easy score five weeks earlier.

SEVENTH RACE

STAY ON BASE has been gelded since fading late against better off the claim, returns to level at which he registered easy wire to wire tally in late spring. Only 4 time winner in this bunch. SOMETHING BIRD set very fast pace, prove no match for winner over a wet main track on 8/25, back

to the lawn today and could take advantage of what appears to be a field lacking in any real solid speed. CONISTON a new gelding off the main wide, another who figures forwardly throughout under aggressive rider.

EIGHTH RACE

SCAM a beaten favorite albeit against perhaps a notch better than he faces under similar conditions in today’s main event. Turn back to six furlongs may also prove to be to his advantage. Should come running off a lively pace. TAKE NOTICE could return quick dividends off the claim having already held own at this level in N Y and Ky. OVER PROMISED nipped by odds on Harryhee in latest and obviously on the improve. Worked well albeit with blinkers on last weekend. Might be a bit of a sleeper with another forward move if pace gets too hot. SUCCESSFUL ROMAN continues to work like a stakes horse after having little excuse last time. Perhaps addition of blinkers will make the difference.

NINTH RACE

STORMY ARABELLA drops to weakest level yet, should be able to relax long enough on the front end to stand some catching in the nightcap. SOLDIERS PRIDE also drops off decent showing behind a couple of rivals in top form at the present time including Maddy’s Salsa who beat this same kind two back. S S ILLUMINATI a pretty consistent sort who took run at but proved no match for class dropping winner Search for Sammy in latest. Well drawn inside. Cannot ignore.
