BEST BET: RACE 2, DANESSA AGAIN

-

FIRST RACE

CATANA’S EDGE failed as 2-5 choice when outsprinted to the lead going a one turn mile across town now gets to try his luck at two turns and should be able to clear off, control this one from start to finish. JUDITH’S SUNSET well posted for short run to first turn while exiting career best effort behind in form Gran Chief who flattered effort coming back to beat open $6,250 company in his next start. Stretch running gelding will need some pace help with top choice to set up his late kick. IL FARAONE has never run well around two turns but does come off decent showing first off the claim for present connections.

SECOND RACE

DANESSA AGAIN looked sharp blowing out for local bow while getting those shades back on today returning to turf off the claim for high percentage O/T combo. May ultimately prove one to catch. Nicely spotted in this condition not having won on grass since just before cut off date for the race. The same holds for MISS LAMBORGHINI although latter a beaten favorite twice at this same level this summer at Gulf Park. WANDA GIRL finished in front of a couple of next out winners in crosstown finale and would prove major beneficiary if top pair hook and falter late.

THIRD RACE

DERBY DAY DARLING likely wanted no part of a wet track last time. Returns to dry land, should stand some catching with these. TOUCHET and SO FRESH get a little class relief, the former much improved since returning to the races this summer in Ky.

FOURTH RACE

NOW IT’S NINE looked like a filly who needed more ground off much needed career bow. Gets shaky not in pretty wide open looking maiden event. Like the breeding on this one by Gio Ponti out of a Touch Gold mare. NIGHT WATCH drops, stretches out, gets a set of blinkers for the first time, lots to like about the logical choice. SWEET BLOSSOM

another getting some much needed class relief and like the fact she’s already had a couple of starts around two turns. Painted Image exits key race when showing some brief speed and another who figures to benefit from drop to this category. FONTANAZZA turns back in distance after setting respectable pace, fading late at a mile. Might be quickest of the bunch if aggressively handled from the outset. MAGNATO GO also has a turn of foot and barn has woken up of late following long drought. Could be a sleeper. MICHELLE’Z LAUGH will be coming best of all at the end shortening up off steady diet of longer races.

SIXTH RACE

COPPER VESSEL strictly a pace play, the best closer in a field loaded with speed. WAR PIPE comes off his best yet, will respect from the hedge in current form. R SECRET LIFE the key to this making turf debut off a long layoff. Could be quickest of the bunch although likely to get tested early by Crimson Spade and others although dangerous if taking to the surface.

SEVENTH RACE

APOSTLE has shown a world of promise in a short time and sure to move forward off his maiden win. Well bred sort could be ready to jump right up and take another. INHIBITION finished in front of a pair of next out winners despite setting contested pace going a one turn mile and perhaps will be better suited around two turns. figures forwardly throughout. RUPP should benefit from that last sprint out in first start since early February. Major player if able to repeat that try behind Talk Logistics last winter at G P. Belle Tapisserie the big question here returning from long layoff without a single reported work on his resume’ at press time since finishing fourth in the Hutcheson. By all rights should be scratched from the race but if he goes perhaps worth siding against at a short price in two turn bow.
