BEST BET: RACE 7, ANABELLA QUEEN

FIRST RACE

MOONSHINE MARTINI is a tepid pick. He was coming off back-to-back double digit losses when he ran the best race in his career in his only start here, and he has been working well of late so maybe he can do it again. STARSHIP ROCKY owns the best last-race Beyer but his running style makes him hard to love on top in a race they probably won’t be going very fast up front. FORALL THE MARBLES has some speed and could take them a long way with the leading apprentice riding.

SECOND RACE

PHISH FAN won the last time he ran in a straight claiming race and is coming off a decent effort behind Harryhee who earned 84 Beyer’s for his runner-up finishes in his next two stars in a $12.5K starter race and the $75K Trinniberg. PHISH FAN should also get a similar trip to his race three back when he earned a 92 Beyer for his win three back.. GREELY IS BACK is the one he will have to beat. He is going for the hat trick following wins for $10K on the turf Aug. 9 and a sloppy track Sept. 3. The versatile 6-year-old should also be fine on what will hopefully be a fast track - 60% chance of a shower.. BIG BOY BRUNO has fired fresh in the past and has been working like he’s ready to run a big race coming off the bench.

THIRD RACE

GO POKE THE BEAR, by the good debut and turf sire Kitten’s Joy, is the first foal to race out of mare who won four races on grass. This is not a move Pletcher makes very often, but since 2016 he is 1 for 4 with babies debuting going a mile or longer on turf in maiden claiming races and the horse he won with ran for this price going this distance across town and paid $29.40. Not expecting that kind of price here, though. CURIOSO didn’t have any noticeable excuses Saturday, but he takes the plunge into a maiden claimer and will be very dangerous if he can handle coming back this quickly. NEW YEAR improved dramatically when he switched to turf for his second start and should be rolling late.

FOURTH RACE

OVER SENSUAL has yet to run a bad race for Joseph and the winner of his latest in a key race won a $35K starter with a $50K claiming option in his next start. He should have speed to run at and could get up in time with the right kind of trip. MAJESTIC SECRET just missed at this level and distance Oct. 14 and a similar effort puts him right there again. He has speed, but doesn’t need the lead, and could get a nice trip sitting just off the other speed, most notably SCOTUSCARE who took them all the way in his last three races. SCOTUSCARE is stepping up in class but with rising Beyer’s, his latest being his career-best, he may not have reached his peak. Catch him if you can.

FIFTH RACE

MANHATTAN PROJECT was coming off a layoff when he rallied to finish second in a $20K maiden claimer across town on Sept. 21 and if he takes the expected move forward he could get up in time in this spot. His running style is a concern in a race that will probably unfold at a moderate tempo, but they weren’t exactly winging it up front last time. SPRING JOY finished behind the top pick two back and won’t mind being back on turf following an okay effort in a race washed off and moved to the main track He also has decent tactical speed and could get the better trip. BRAG DUDE took them a long way in his first try going a middle distance on turf and is eligible to improve with the experience behind him.

SIXTH RACE

VALLEY GIRL improved in her second start and with three solid works in Oct. she should be ready to fire a big shot coming off a layoff. She isn’t in the same league as her half-brother, Fellowship, a $750K stakes winner who finished third in the Grade 1 Florida Derby, but she doesn’t have to be to win this. ROSES FOR MARTINA is out of a mare who won twice as a 2-year-old and she picked

things up in her last couple of works. Plus, all three sibs are multiple winners and the past five years her trainer has a respectable 13% strike rate with juveniles debuting in maiden claiming races.

TREASURED INFO showed a bit more stamina in her latest and could take them a long way with Maragh riding.

SEVENTH RACE

ANABELLA QUEEN hasn’t run a bad race since she returned from a layoff on Aug. 12 and in her last two at this level she lost by a nose on the main track and a neck in her latest on turf. The addition of Paco Lopez could be enough to get her over the top. She is also versatile and could get a nice trip stalking what should be an honest and contested pace. REAGAN’S ODYSSEY also improved in her two starts following a layoff and figures to be in the mix throughout. She will have other speed to deal with, though. CARAMEL MARTINI can fire fresh and may have been trying to tell us something in her latest work. A closer, the shape of the race should work for her.

EIGHTH RACE

DORITZA consistently puts up Beyer Speed Figures that would win this and there should be an honest pace to set up her good late move. She also figures to move forward in her second start back, goes from one good trainer to another with the claim, and note the strong numbers Gallardo has riding for Cibelli. YAKUT worked a bullet 5 furlongs Oct. 13 and appears primed for a big effort by Delgado who has a 45% strike rate and $7.18 ROI with claimed horses running back the first time. YAKUT is taking a substantial move up in price, but not so much in class as she was facing open $10K claimers last time. MISS WILBY, a 12-time winner, is coming off a solid effort in a $25K open claimer at Suffolk and is perfect in two starts here.

NINTH RACE

HONEY DONT has good tactical speed and should get a nice trip from a forward position. No nextout winners coming out of his latest at Saratoga, but the horse that finished third just missed in his next start while earning an 82 Beyer and then won a $40K n2L with an 81 Beyer at Belmont on Oct. 26. SEATTLE TREASURE owns the best last-race Beyer and should be rolling late with the leading rider aboard. TIGERBEACH might be a but suspect at the distance, but he moves back to his preferred surface and could get first crack at speed that probably won’t last. REMEMBER THE MAINE and THEMANBEHINDTHEMAN have to be given serious consideration if they get to run.
