BEST BET: RACE 3, MAGIC SPELL

FIRST RACE

SEA SPARKLE dueled two-wide for the lead before fading to third over an outside-favoring track in her improved second race vs. OS maiden special types Oct. 17. With the addition of Lasix, she could lead all the way in this $25K dash. KEWANNE checked in second in three of her four outings, and is eligible to improve with addition of blinkers and Lasix. MARY OF SCOTTS had worked well prior to her disappointing debut, in which she went fourwide on the turn after getting away slowly.

SECOND RACE

GEORGIAN DANCER rallied four-wide for second behind stakes winner Silent Mistake over an insidebiased track last time in an OS N1X. She’s meeting tougher in this open N1X, but could be along in time, in a field loaded with speed. CASPIAN JEWEL prevailed in a front-end battle through fast splits en route to a daylight score in her five-furlong opener, over a track which wasn’t all that kind to speed. BLACK BESS romped on the lead in her fivefurlong debut vs. OS types. She showed blazing speed in her bullet five-furlong drill Oct. 20, and has to negotiate three-quarters here.

THIRD RACE

MAGIC SPELL got away slowly before closing wide over an inside-biased track to win an Oct. 7 N1X over ALNILAH, who came back to win at the same class. She can double up in this second-level optional claimer. ALNILAH showed a new-found ability to rate behind the leaders before going in for the kill in the aforementioned seven-furlong event. Threequarters is just as suitable for the large chestnut. SCARLET FLUTTER is changing surfaces off a hanging second on turf in the Ontario Damsel for 3yo fillies. That stakes contained two next-out winners, most notably Carotene Stakes winner Dixie Moon.

FOURTH RACE

HOLIDEJAVU raced very wide all the way last time while coming empty vs. $10K conditioned foes, from which the winner exited to just miss for $8K. She figures to rebound in this much easier NW2 tilt, after working a quick half-mile. SILENT

FIFTH RACE

PEGGY’S COVE had a terrible trip while stuck in traffic along the rail in the stretch before being angled wide to pass a few rivals. She was favored in that $32K maiden contest, and should be a chalky proposition again here with Contreras back in the saddle. WISE CHANCE stalked three-wide before fading to fourth at first asking in a shorter $32K maiden sprint Oct. 8. She’s worked well in the interim, and should make her presence known. FORT OF LUXURY battled three-wide for the lead on the turn before tiring in her latest. She could be more effective with a less-aggressive approach. Use MARNER underneath in the gimmicks.

SIXTH RACE

The once-speedy SING AND CRY IN DUBAI has evolved into an effective stalker. He wasn’t far back in fourth most recently in the G2 Nearctic on good turf, and should be prominent in this allowance prep for the Kennedy Road Stakes on the Tapeta. HEMP HEMP HURRAY finished a close third in the six-furlong Nearctic after a lovely inside stalking trip. Leading rider Da Silva takes over on gifted 3yo, who appears to have hanging tendencies. IKERRIN ROAD failed to challenge in the Nearctic, but was previously victorious in a second-level optional claimer on the main track. Consider CIRCLE OF FRIENDS for the lower rungs of the exotics.

SEVENTH RACE

FRED’S CHAMP’s third-last performance, a pace555 pressing third in a fast-paced route, would be good enough to get the job done in this light $8K maiden claimer. Wilson was aboard for another third most recently in a $12.5K sprint. WONNESTRUT rallied for second in two of his last four excursions. He went fourwide on the first turn and five-wide on the far bend in his recent subpar showing for $16K. CINNAMON BEAR is getting some class relief, and TERRAFIRMA should be a speed threat with blinkers on.

EIGHTH RACE

SAM’S CROSS attended the pace from a four-wide position en route to a narrow loss over an insidebiased track in an identical spot a month ago. She’s worked twice since, and should make some noise on a repeat of that last one. CUAT THE FINISH LINE awaited room on the turn before closing along the rail to win her second straight six-furlong race at this level Oct. 20. She’s a little suspect going seven-eighths, but the 3yo will be tough to deny if she stays in the zone. THIRTY NINE SEVEN inherited the victory Oct. 28 when ROXHAM was disqualified for interference in the stretch. Both are competing on short rest. KALLAN is another contender. The Jackpot Hi 5 carryover is $73K.
