Race 6 – 2-Year-Old Filly Trot

(1) WHEN DOVESCRY was a very good second to the freakish Woodside Charm in the Breeders Crown and looked like she had a legitimate chance turning home. Allard trainee seems to be peaking at the perfect time and should be controlling the action from this spot. (2) SONNET GRACE picked an inopportune time to break stride as it cost her a shot at ‘Crown’ glory but the Burke trainee qualified back safely and had been showing big speed in prior efforts. (3) JEZZYS LEGACY trotted just evenly in the Kindergarten final last week but had been racing well in prior starts; the Schnittker barn always merits respect.

Race 8 – 2-Year-Old Filly Pace

(7) SUMMER CHARM was a big upset winner in the Gold Final up in Canada and now she returns to the Burke barn, where she performed well a couple of months ago in stakes action at The Red Mile. In a race where none of these fillies have really distinguished themselves she seems worth a play. (1) ST SOMEWHERE was a winner in her Breeders Crown elimination, then was ignored in the wagering in the final and raced accordingly. I suspect there will be a decent bounce-back effort tonight. (6) QUEEN OF THE PRIDE has banked the most money in the field for her local connections and she will likely be firing from the gate.

Race 10 – 2-Year-Old Colts and Geldings Pace

(3) BLOOD MONEY raced very well from off the pace in his Crown elimination then excusably tired when forced to contest the early action from post nine in the final. I suspect the Takter trainee is better from a stalking spot and could be in line for that perfect trip tonight. (1) SEMI TOUGH has been right there in pretty much every start of his brief career, but has just one win to show for it (and six runner-up spots). Tough to accept too short of a price with him on top, but the Burke trainee needs to be included. (7) REIGNING DEO was the NY Sire Stakes champion at a big mutuel and freshened up with a decent qualifier in preparation for this event. Colt may be in for a tough trip from this outside starting spot but should be a healthy enough price to take a look at him.
