BEST BET: RACE 1, DOVEY LOVEY

FIRST RACE

DOVEY LOVEY dropping for the first time with some solid races at the MSW level behind her, and she is also getting the turn back in distance that she really needs after faltering going longer in her last two starts; tough to beat here at a likely short price. WILD TYPE has been defeated as the favorite in three of her first four start and her figures heading the wrong way but she has had some viable excuses along the way, including that last one when hitting the gate at the start and being left to chase wide behind a blowout winner; has to break from the rail this time but will give her one more chance as she goes second off the claim for Rudy. BRASS RING flashed good speed when dropped to this level last time and earned the top figure of her career, but she had no excuse not to hold on at the end in that spot; will be heading forward again from her outside draw.

SECOND RACE

LADY GRACE debuted in a solid field for the level at Saratoga and took some money in that spot before chasing from the outside and getting into contention alongside the eventual winner, the talented Stellar Agent, coming to the stretch before being outfinished; lands in another potentially loaded race here but having that experience behind her will serve her well. SHANNON’S GIRL has sprinted twice on turf on her career and she has finished up well from off the pace both times to no avail; closing sprinter will need to catch some breaks but she has faced three talented fillies in her first three starts and has acquitted herself well, particularly in her two attempts sprinting. ANDREA’S PRIDE returning from a four-month layoff looking to take a step forward after racing on well in her two starts over the summer; contested the pace and stayed well late in a live race when last seen.

THIRD RACE

TAYLER’S THE BOSS was an easy front-running winner in her second start as a 2yo and hasn’t necessarily managed to run back to that race since, but she has had some things work against her along the way, including that trip chasing outside against a string rail in her most recent dirt start; drops and switches surfaces for trainer who has a good record turf to dirt (25% from a goodsized sample and a positive ROI). DIAMOND JEN BRADY won first time out over this track in a slow race (two full seconds than the other division of 2yo $50k maidens claimers on that card) but she improved in each of her next three starts vs. better horses; finally getting the class relief she needs to be competitive again. MO FLASH goes second off the layoff after showing speed and tiring over a mile on turf in her first start back; broke her maiden in the slop earlier in the year before moving into an impossible spot on synthetic and then just missing when back over another wet track, and her two most recent starts have both been on turf.

FOURTH RACE

PLINK FREUD ran well in her debut to close ground in the faster division of MSW turf sprinters after being bothered at the start to wind up outrun; didn’t run as well second time out while down inside and behind horses for a long way but she lands in the right kind of field here if she can stretch out effectively and rebound to an effort more like that first one. WINIFRED J has been rained off the turf in each of her first two starts but she showed some potential first time out while making a wide run to contention around the turn after missing the break; tough post for the stretch out but that first start suggests that she can run a little. IDEATIONAL a firster for top connections landing in the right kind of field; dan was a good turf horse who wanted to go long but her sire is off to a poor start despite having some appeal on paper.

FIFTH RACE

AREWEHAVINGFUNYET went back to back over this track at this distance earlier in the year and she held her form in her subsequent starts before getting back over a one-turn mile to win again last time; good post outside as she steps up a bit off
