Race 4 – 3-Year-Old Colts and Geldings Trot

(1) MET’S HALL has had a phenomenal season, recently going over the $1 million mark with his easy score in the Erskine at Hoosier Park. Team Miller-trained trotting colt has a post and perhaps conditioning edge on main rival (5) SIX PACK, and he may be the slightly better price. (5) SIX PACK easily took his Breeders Crown elimination but then was scratched sick for the lucrative final. Svanstedt trainee has missed almost a month of action but I would be surprised if he wasn’t 100% ready for this. (4) FASHIONWOODCHOPPER goes first-time Ron Burke tonight and gets Yannick Gingras in the bike. He’s a notch below the top two here, but it will be interesting to see how he goes for his new connections.

Race 6 – 3-Year-Old Fillies Trot

(1) PLUNGE BLUE CHIP stalked the speedy Atlanta around the track in the Breeders Crown final and came up a touch short when it mattered, but I’ll excuse that effort considering how hard she was used setting up that trip. She can bounce right back with better rating. (3) LILY STRIDE hit peak form at just the right time and was a big upset winner in her Crown event. Filly could be even better tonight, but at how short a price? After going off at 44/1 and 31/1 in her last two, she’s listed at an unappealing 2/1 on the morning line. (2) SEVIYORUM has just one seasonal win, but has been right there in most of her efforts. She should never be too far back from this spot.

Race 10 – 3-Year-Old Fillies Pace

(2) PERCY BLUECHIP could not have scripted a better scenario in the Breeders Crown final and she pulled off the wild 52/1 upset. Clearly she will attract more attention tonight, but she could be worth a follow-up play at around 6/1. Filly has been solid since moving to the Burke barn. (4) YOUAREMYCANDYGIRL bounced back very nicely at Hoosier just six days after being torched in the Crown final. Filly is right at the top of this division and must be used here, but won’t offer any value. (8) BARON REMY is another Burke trainee in here that has plenty of talent, and she will offer a big price from this tough starting spot. Maybe she can get involved somehow.

Race 12 – 3-Year-Old Colts and Geldings Pace

(1) LATHER UP is freakishly fast, but also his own worst enemy at times. Colt made huge recoveries from breaks in stride in two of his last three, with a tough-trip second sandwiched in between. Clyde Francis-trainee may have the “home field advantage” here and I think we’ll be treated to a big speed display tonight. Could (7) DORSODURO HANOVER wrap up divisional honors with a win tonight? It’s very possible. Burke trainee has banked over $1.2 million and has been a model of consistency. Matt Kakaley will have him on the move early. (2) JIMMY FREIGHT has been a great story, from the Iowa fair circuit to the top of his class, and he just keeps chugging along. He’s clearly more than capable with any sort of smooth trip.
