How to play the Pick 5

- by Kenny nPedck

Leg A – LRL Race 8: INVIGOROUS fits based on his best Beyers, and he figures prominently from the start given a clean break from his inside starting slot. THATWOULDBEGRAND gets back to one turn, and that is where he has posted his best figures. BEYOND THE VICTORY was a close 2nd in a game effort in his first start vs. winners. MOUNT TRAVERS adds blinkers and sports some solid works for his first start in about six weeks (4).

Leg B – GPW Race 8: BULLGRATS makes his first start for a tag, a positive angle for the barn. ACCOUNTANT Q was a game 2nd when last seen. C’ERA UNA VOLTA has been working well toward his first start since July (3).

Leg C – LRL Race 9: MYTHOS is going to be a handful in his first start off the claim. He settled for the show in his latest but he was hurt by the race flow, which favored those horses who were close-up to or on the lead, and he figures to improve today given a better set-up, which seems likely (1).

Leg D – GPW Race 9: SECRET O’LIFE is easy to like after hitting the board in each of her last three starts, all on the turf. SUBTLE HOPE has some decent breezes showing for her debut, and the barn does well with firsters. MESA MADEIRA was off the board but did rally some after working out an inside trip despite a wide post (3).

Leg E – GG Race 4: SEQUENTIALLY was a close-up third under similar conditions in that last one. ON TRUST has been away a while but fits with these on the strength of his maiden-breaking Beyer. KING EDDIE has speed and competitive Beyers, while DANCING HARBOR also has steady figures, but a decent closing kick. CANNONBALL COMIN finished 2nd in each of his last two at this level (5).

THE PLAY: 2, 3, 6, 11 / 1, 6, 7/ 3 / 1, 3, 10 / 1, 3, 9, 11, 12 = $180 Ticket
