BEST BET: RACE 5, ERCOLANO

FIRST RACE

VOW ME NOW ran to his breeding, he’s a half to G3 placed Get Jets,, drawing off to easy win when switched to turf for local bow. Should handle the hike off that performance. TANGIBLE necked at 82-1 by Kantharos colt and now multiple winner Royal Urn while showing big improvement last time and one to fear if able to repeat that effort here. HARD BELLE looks like controlling speed. Beat more than half the field despite setting contested pace last time. Could get brave if loose on front end long enough.

SECOND RACE

ALL IN GIRL the kind of horse you really want to side again considering her recent series of second place efforts but not much to beat against this bunch. One final chance. RACHEL’S SMOKIN has shown speed, some talent on the turf but little on the main track and back with her owner who is still seeking first career training win. May have best chance at springing the upset. KAYLIE’S GIRL no match for preferred choice on a couple of previous occasions but did cross the line first for same tag here last time.

THIRD RACE

DORITZA ran against the grain of the track in each of her last two starts and staying put off the claim returning to site of her maiden win. Class of field but stretch running sort is somewhat suspect at this distance. GABRIELLE ELIZABETH obviously hard to fault in present form but is taking on far better than she’s demolished in previous two starts. One to catch once again. FASHION BREAK returns locally off some decent showings up north and should force issue from outset.

FOURTH RACE

MISSION DRIVEN one of many key contenders in wide open turf mile. Figures to trip out nicely stalking early leaders returning to preferred surface today. PORTER STREET shortens up to more suitable distance after rallying belatedly going 12 furlongs last time. Stretch running sort should get enough early help to prove late threat. DAVE HOEGHT second of a dozen in well graded mile returning locally three weeks earlier. Can handle the hike with clean sailing.

FIFTH RACE

ERCOLANO, a lightly raced but very talented sort, held own with much better here last time than he’ll encounter in this spot. Just a question of whether he’ll be as effective around two turns as one. SEVEN GEMS turned in very game effort before succumbing grudgingly in well graded off the turf mile on 10/11. Main danger, perhaps, if able to repeat the effort. CHOVANES has won four of last five and in dangerous hands for return to S. Fla. Hard to leave out of the equation.

SIXTH RACE

SHIMMY SHIMMY SHAKE and ELISSAS SECRET a couple of new faces taken to vie for the major price for this tag. Former a half to $229K earner Formal Summation from dangerous barn when it comes to placing firsters for a tag. Main caveat the rail draw. Elissa a homebred out of a mare who banked $120K for her connections during her racing career and appears forwardly prepared for bow at PM. STARSHIP HALO lost all chance at the break, managed to finish 3rd in promising bow. Might return quick dividends off the claim.

SEVENTH RACE

GRAN SAMAN the shakiest of nods in present form in this impossible looking spot exiting career best effort when rating, kicking in late over GP

sod. Repeat effort could have him along in time off what figures to be a very honest pace. VERY

COLORFUL a veteran who always seems to give account with this kind and another who’ll appreciate a torrid duel up top. GREEN MANSIONS and I’m Cardinal own recent wins over the course and like top choice hard to ignore in current form.

EIGHTH RACE

BULLGRATS a huge question mark off yet another big gap between starts. Has been gelded since last, shows up for a tag, working forwardly enough to give top billing with this group. ACCOUNTANT Q second best behind next out $10K winner Dr. Harlan while earning career best Beyer in crosstown finale. Looks like best of the others. JUST BUSTIN in new hands off extended vacation, has the speed to be a forward factor throughout.

NINTH RACE

SECRET O’LIFE hard to ignore off near miss, game showing dropping to this level for first time in latest. NARROWS BRIDGE game herself in defeat stretching out this summer in Kentucky. Should fit for this tag locally. SUBTLE HOPE debuts off series of works at PM that include several on turf. Barn can have one ready to score at first asking.
