BEST BET: RACE 5, ZIPPY WILLY

FIRST RACE

About a half dozen or so legit contenders in the opener. EARTH should offer some value and with enough speed to perhaps steal this one if aggressively handled from the outset. Tossing last when overmatched against real turf sprint killers in the Claiming Crown. THE QUEENS JULES the likely favorite on the drop to this level and off some decent looking drills at PM. DIAMOND MINT should benefit from recent two turn outing, may be coming best at the end.

SECOND RACE

QUICK QUICK QUICK catching what appears to be softer group than she encountered in KY finale. Need only repeat that winning effort two back to beat this compact lineup. POSSE NEEDED outrun going a mile on a wet track in N Y finale and now back to perhaps what she does best. Last work promising over local soil. MS MESHAK matched career best Beyer effort here beating softer earlier in the meet, capable of another forward move over what is obviously her favorite track.

THIRD RACE

DISCREET HEAT suffered tough setback when stretched to a mile for the first time several weeks earlier, need only repeat that try to get elusive win number two. AGHOST TO THE POST no match for preferred choice last time but in new hands off the claim. Can improve. BRUSILOV had little chance from post 14 facing top pair a couple of weeks earlier. Can be along for a minor share in this compact field.

FOURTH RACE

AWESOMENDENSOME asserted her class on the drop to register popular win vs. this same kind in GPW finale, need only repeat the effort, shake loose early to take another. THE TWO NANCY’S has changed hands since her last, was second best behind preferred choice in their previous encounter. Perhaps chief upset threat in the rematch. WANTAGH QUEEN down from N Y off a decent showing going a bit further, figures to run late for a piece if able to secure clean sailing.

FIFTH RACE

ZIPPY WILLY the day’s best one of several plunging the class ladder today although barn has had good success with this kind in the past. Has not seemed to miss a beat in a.m. prepping for return. COAL TRUTH showed promise at 3 but has been sparsely raced ever since. Blew out willingly enough for this. SENSATIONAL ZIP back to dirt off series of outings on poly and turf. Can’t ignore for at least a share from high percentage connections and with Irad seeing fit to take the call.

SIXTH RACE

MANOLETE a giant question mark coming off that eased line here earlier in the meet but was not vanned off after racing so perhaps the issue was more of a equipment nature than anything else. At any rate, too good for these if able to run back to either previous outing. BIG BOY BRUNO was fanned well wide off the turn, finished evenly with a pretty good number in latest. Perhaps the right one should preferred choice not be up to snuff. SO LONG CHUCK showed some improvement with same kind last time.

SEVENTH RACE

CAMBIER PARC disappointed after early trouble when well backed launching career in the wet stuff. Switches to what figures to be her preferred surface. Out of a two time winning mare who produced G3 turf winner Belle Hill. CAP DE CREUS rained off the lawn last time and likely better served if this one stays on the grass. Kin to G1

winner Sense Again. ON THE TOWN hard to knock off a couple of solid performance to launch career although must wonder if she did benefit from the soft going on both occasions.

EIGHTH RACE

STRONG ONE tailing off from a Beyer standpoint but facing much softer than she failed against as 3-2 choice in local bow. One more chance. VINNIE VAN GO comes off improved showing on drop, switch to turf. Has the speed to be dangerous if loose with these. NAIROBI may have benefited from track bias when jumping up out of nowhere with huge Beyer number on graduation day. Must prove he can repeat the effort against better.

NINTH RACE

SEATTLE TREASURE not badly beaten by Pletcher’s Lemonist while turning in a second straight improved showing last month and getting the hot Landeros up returning against similar today. Might be worth a look at the price. SEVEN GEMS outlasted preferred one in their previous meeting and a logical choice in current form. COUNTY COURT earned high marks in each of his last pair but is he a better horse on softer rather than firmer ground?.

TENTH RACE

COLLINS AVE hard to look past off corking debut behind Pletcher’s 6/5 and more experience False Info. Finished well clear for the placing. Will take a pretty good effort from one of the newbies to upset likely fave in finale. AUGER has turned in a couple of promising looking works coming out of his last when having best chances compromised at the break. Might be a sleeper. MACHO MANIA owns experience edge on field and must respect coming up tagged for first time today.
