ANALYSIS

- BEST BET: RACE 5, FULGENCIO

FIRST RACE

COUNTRY GIRL SHIRL stays put off the claim and a dull effort when hung wide throughout from tough post here last month. Lone multiple winner in the field gets a mulligan for that performance, good enough to beat these with repeat of his two turn mile win across town during the fall. MARY LEE AND ME an improving sort although was no match for winner in their previous encounter. PAPA’S GIRL very logical off her last and likely the controlling speed but did benefit from the trip on graduation day, perhaps a bit vulnerable at short price stepping in with winners for the first time.

SECOND RACE

FRECKLES KAN has changed hands numerous times but now in the barn of a very dangerous trainer off the claim and perhaps eligible to return quick dividends for new connections at her best turning back to her most effective distance. IRISH FIX knocking on the door with this kind and did run bang up second to red hot Precocious Punch two back but will have to overcome tricky post if she gets in. TRULY COURAGEOUS did not have best of trips last time following a slow start, deserves another chance considering the speed she brings to the table with a clean beginning.

THIRD RACE

Hard to separate MO MOXIE and UNDERESTIMATE off their previous encounter with the former perhaps taking the worst of the trips that day. Should fight it out for the major prize. RESTRUCTURE ran well enough at first asking behind runaway winner to expect improvement with a race under her belt.

FOURTH RACE

MACHO BLUE extremely impressive in turf bow and well spotted to score right back if able to clear off once again. SUM OVERTURE could prove beneficiary if top one gets hooks and falters returning to his preferred surface and on drop to selling division. THORPE D’ORO turned in big effort off long layoff but poorly posted outside.

FIFTH RACE

FULGENCIO stuck in second gear but facing softest bunch yet. Winner of last Beyered 77 that day, returned to finish 3rd against allowance company in his next start. Not facing anywhere near that kind here. MAJOR KELLY nipped in Woodbine finale by 29-1 shot while earning career best Beyer in process although obviously a question mark of sorts on dirt. TROPICAL TAPISTRY continues to improve with each subsequent start and got to be intrigued by fact Irad takes the call on bottom level maiden claimer.

SIXTH RACE

CAPTAIN GAUGHEN hard to fault in his present form while likely best of the trio exiting key race on 12/27 along with WHENTHEDOVESCRY and BUSHROD. Hard to look past although will still need to trip out in big field of turf sprinters. The same goes for Whenthedovescry exiting career best effort in local bow.

SEVENTH RACE

HEAVENS PULPIT perhaps speed of the speed in a field lacking any semblance of a late threat. Suffered tough loss as odds on choice last time when run down by red hot Ms Meshak who flattered the effort coming back to beat N2X’s in her subsequent start. SHACKLEFORD COUNTY working well for local bow, finished fifth stretching to a mile in a race which has since produced a couple of next out winners, might have the best late kick of the bunch shortening back to six furlongs. LUZMIMI PRINCESS in new and potent hands since last, figures to press issue from outset.
