Race 8 – 1st Hambletonian Elim

(4) SOUL STRONG is one of the best double-digit possibilities on the 16-race card for me. On paper he is as fast as any horse in this race and he has displayed great versatility, showing good races from on or off the pace. Driver Dexter Dunn sticking with him over Cantab Fashion is a big show of confidence. (7) GIMPANZEE is undefeated in 12 career starts and gets his biggest test on Saturday. He’s the type of horse that isn’t bothered by adversity.

Race 9 – 2nd Hambletonian Elim

(5) GREENSHOE is the best 3-yearold trotter in North America. Unless he makes a mistake or another horse shows up with the best mile of their career, he’s going to win this race.

Race 10 – Cashman Memorial

We are going to get a decent price on (9) SIX PACK, who for my money is the best horse in the race. He may have to take some air to make the front from post 9, but that shouldn’t be a major issue. (4) EUROBOND has turned his career around since moving in to the Julie Miller barn. Four-year-old has always hinted at talent and he’s finally living up to the hype. Post one isn’t great at The Meadowlands but it should really help (1) MARION MARAUDER, who doesn’t have the blazing early speed needed to get involved from outside posts. He needed the race last time and should be tighter now.

Race 11 – Hambletonian Oaks final

(2) MILLIES POSSESION may not be as flashy as (5) WHEN DOVESCRY, but she has an innate will to win. She had every reason to go down in the stretch in her elimination and still dug in. You can’t teach heart! While not my top pick, you have to respect the pure speed and ability of When Dovescry. She may very well be the most naturally gifted filly in the race.
