BEST BET: RACE 6, PROSPECTOR FEVER

-

FIRST RACE

The card Monday is highlighted by a first-level allowance that drew Rescind, a 3-year-old halfbrother to Super Derby winner Apart. In the opener, BOSS LADY MELISSA gets the nod after just missing against similar last out. She came rolling over five-eighths of a mile and gets a bit more real estate to work with in this spot. RED PRINCESS leaves the statebred ranks behind but owns the field’s best last-race Beyer Figure. RATATOUILLE meets winners off a maiden victory. She is appealing for her consistent form and natural speed.

SECOND RACE

BINDS FAIR LASS has been knocking on the door of late and gets the continued support of the high percentage Lozada. She also owns the field’s best last-race Beyer Figure. MONEY SUNK was second last out at a distance similar to this sometimes demanding trip of six and a half panels. This one also has reason to move forward here, in her second start in two months. WHITNEY’S FLASH might make good use of the added real estate here, based on her running style.

THIRD RACE

PADDOCK PICK was a winner at this distance last out and the Beyer Figure of 78 that he earned is the best last-race number in this spot. PADDOCK PICK is further appealing for the fact that he faced steeper earlier in his career in Southern California, among his rivals an eventual Grade 2 winner in Air Strike. MISCHIEVOUS BULL cuts back to one turn here and Davidson sharpened his skills for the task with a bullet half-mile move in 46.20 seconds last week at LaD. This one defeated a nice crowd two back at Sam Houston. DOUBLE STAR is appealing as a two-time stakes winner. He returns to dirt - site of those stakes wins - and also is cutting back to one turn - site of his best effort at the current meet at LaD. He’s from a mare who was a stakes winner of $110K. SENOR BLAIR is from a mare who was a multiple Group 1 winner, earning $217K.
