BEST BET: RACE 6, G’S MINE

-

FIRST RACE

When last seen facing maiden claimers STRIKINGLY SMART was trying Fair Grounds foes which are obviously tougher than these. We think the time off helps as this filly has already started 19 times. In a bid to shake things up, this horse puts the blinkers ON and we are all for doing anything new at this level. ELIZABETH’S MUSIC has route speed on the cut back and draws the attack post. The Burress barn is 18% with their new runners and they show a flat bet profit. X MINUS ONE drops in class and lures Dominguez who is 2 for 3 when riding for this barn.

SECOND RACE

RAHFEES MAN got a very nice 64 Beyer on this sod two back when breaking his maiden. He didn’t get any kind of a breather in his most recent so combine that with facing first time winners and his late fade is more than understandable. He draws nicely for this and finds a spot light on pace. Oh, he is bred to love the grass. STAR YANKEE does have good turf breeding. This barn is 10% on the grass and that is decent. He got a 55 Beyer when last seen on this sod and that was versus special weights. We say he is better now. BRANDI BO DANDY showed some speed last out but should be content to stalk today. All of his winning has

come on this sod. Can he put good tries together though? That was a Beyer top last out. GREELEY WENT WEST is by a 10% debut turf sire. His dam never tried the green and this is her first grass foal. He exits a key race where 2 of 8 returned to win with Beyers of 82 and 81.

THIRD RACE

GINA’S PIE did win going two turns two and three back and now returns to just that. Race flow is above average as there are 2 legit speed horses in this race. The bad news is that Green leaves for the morning line favorite but that was to be expected. BEAUTIFUL WIFE ran great three back when beating optional claimers at Evangeline and did so at a flat mile. Even that turf try two back was decent. As for her most recent .... it was just poor. Sometimes the girls just throw in a bad one. We like that this horse has a local work. ABBY IN PINK is feeling good and figures a nice stalking trip. She loves this dirt at 8-5-1-1. This barn is 24% with their repeating winners. The one to beat.

FOURTH RACE

SWEET MILAGROS is improving by the minute and figures a great trip today behind all the speeds. We thought that seven furlong try two back was better than it looks and then she followed up with the EZ win previously. Connections find a logical spot for first time winners. CHRISTEANA’S KISS just figures. She ran well last out and it came at today’s tricky distance. Note that she has worked since her most recent. PUTSUMDIRTONIT changes things up with the cut back in distance combined with the surface switch. When last seen in an elongated sprint, this filly finished 2nd at EvD. TRINTRIN exits a key race where 2 of 4 returned to win with figs of 57 and 61.

FIFTH RACE

PLAY ON BECKY is by a 8% debut turf sire. Her dam never tried the green. Lone grass sib is 2-0-0-0. Connections wanted the grass for this filly’s debut but it was washed off. She actually improved her Beyer in her second start when facing winners for the first time. We think this filly will like two turns on the grass. MEXIA is by a 7% debut turf sire. Her dam was un-raced and this is her first grass foal. Current form is sharp and you get Asmussen in your corner. HONDURAS PRIDE got a nice confidence boost last out. Those turf tries 3 and 4 back were solid. Her turf breeding is actually good. INTERSLEW is by a 11% debut turf sire. Her dam never tried the green. Both sibs won on the grass including a multiple winner.

SIXTH RACE

G’S MINE did get some play in her debut and we can see why as 3 of 4 sibs are multiple winners. She was stuck on the rail but still ran OK while earning valuable racing experience. Small barn is 1 for 1 with their repeating winners. We like that this filly has worked twice since her debut. The price should entice. TOTAL LILLY ran OK in her debut. This is dam’s first foal to race. She has a recent work. What if she improves second time racing? If near 8-1 morning line then worth a wager. LUCKY QUEEN is by a 4% debut sire. Her dam went 8-1-2-0 and earned 29K. This is her first foal to race. Lots and lots of well spaced works and for a barn that is 22% with their debut winners. KENAI SPECIAL is by a 10% debut sire (all sire stats are for 2YO’s only). Her dam went 6-3-0-0 and earned 55K. Three of four sibs won and all three beat winners. DISCRETIONARY TIME is by a 8% debut sire. Her dam went 25-9-1-5 and earned 597K (won 2YO debut). Only two of nine sibs won.

SEVENTH RACE

MOGOWAN drops in class and has won on this lawn before. Back to back Beyer tops of late. MAYHAW JELLY has some decent figs on the Fair Grounds’ lawn. He got a 50 Beyer four back on the Evangeline grass. Current form is poor ensuring a good price. We think this gelding is just better on the grass something he gets back to today. FORESTRY’S BUDDY should stalk a decent trip. Second time this turf can only help as can second off the layoff. He does have some upside with this being only his 8th start.
