How to play

- By Kenny Peck

LEG A (SARATOGA 7th):

Using them all in this maiden claiming turf sprint, which is typically wide open, given the conditions. This race features four firsters and only one runner with any kind of turf experience, making it a very difficult race to plot and a very easy race in which to cast a wide net (10).

LEG B (MONMOUTH 9th):

CREDO was no threat to the winner and he lost the place late but he ran a decent race there, the dull Beyer notwithstanding; expecting improvement in this spot. OGEECHEE was off the board when last seen but that was no easy trip, and he may have been on the worst part of the track, caught down inside on a day when the outer paths seemed best (2).

LEG C (MONMOUTH 10th):

PRENDIMI merits respect based on his most recent figures; clearly in good form this summer. SAUCY DON didn’t get the best of trips in terms of pace in either of his last two starts and with a better set up he is eligible to move way up. COZY LOVER has steady figures and the versatility to lead or rate, which should lead to a favorable trip for him. DIAL OPERATOR is back with statebreds after trying open optional claimers in his first start off the layoff, and he stands to improve on the class drop, and also with a race under his belt (4).

LEG D (SARATOGA 10th):

ART THIEF closed well in a couple of those losses and she has license to improve here with the addition of blinkers. GOING TO TEMPLE and AUGUSTA MOON are the two primary speeds, and either can steal this if able to shake loose and back down the fractions on a loose lead (3).

LEG E (WOODBINE 10th):

LYRICAL NOTE had a pace excuse for that latest loss, as he was off the pace in a race which featured little speed and slow fractions, but he can be expected to be more involved from the start today. MACHO DANCER comes off turf races but he’s also won on the main track, and his best figures on this surface make him the main threat today (2).

THE PLAY: ALL / 11, 13 / 3, 5, 7, 10 / 2, 3, 4 / 8, 10 = 480 Combinations ($240 Ticket)
