How to play

Race 9

GOT STORMY has blossomed, enough to lead trainer Mark Casse to compare her to his champion turf mare Tepin. She looked super blasting males in the Grade 1 Fourstardave at Saratoga Aug. 10. RAGING BULL can pack a punch but has had the misfortune of chasing some real beasts, including a second to the top pick in the Fourstardave when he left himself with too much to do before finishing strongly in the lane. If he can get going earlier he can be scary. (2)

Race 10

OLD PERSIAN dominates this on paper. After all, the Group 1 winner has faced and beaten some of the best horses in the world in Europe and Dubai. TIZ A SLAM not only has done his best work here (5 for 9), he comes here in possibly the best form of his life off three straight graded wins. (2)

Race 11

COMBATIVE rallied gamely to win on turf here last time out Aug. 18. That was his first start in 10 months so he can surely move forward. He’s worked well since and remember he cost $500,000 so you know there were once expectations. GET THE NEWS may have turned the corner. After showing talent the son of Tapit put it all together to blast maidens on turf here Aug. 28 and was claimed. DISTINCT PASSION has been knocking on the door. He tried turf for the first time last time out here Aug. 25 and was a good third. (3)

Race 12

STOKES tried turf for the first time here Aug. 18 and was a sharp second so she likes the footing. She also drops for this. PLAYING SMART stalked the pace and kept to her task to be fourth not far behind the top pick in that Aug. 18 race so she fits. CLAIRESSENCE has done something no one else in here has – finished first in a race. She was disqualified that day but comes into this off a fine first turf try last time out. DANCE READY has perked up of late since moving to turf and this level. (4)

5, 7 with 1, 6 with 1, 3, 10 with 1, 3, 5, 10 X $.20 = $9.60
