FIRST RACE

MARTEN LAKE won a similar sprint on the lead under Da Silva when dropping to this level three weeks ago. His trainer has excellent numbers with horses exiting a victory. FOREST BROTHER broke slowly before closing inside for second behind the top pick last time. Contreras replaces the injured Wilson on the flashy chestnut. SPANISH EXPRESS figures to make most of the running while going farther than his optimum distance.

SECOND RACE

Stablemates SOUPER STONEHENGE and SOUPER SMART could run one-two to make up a “souper” exacta. The former got away slowly before closing strongly to win a recent N1X over two rivals who both came back to run well. BRASS COMPASS set soft fractions en route to a half-length triumph over Souper Smart while earning a 92 Beyer in his latest.

THIRD RACE

FANTASTIC BREEZE is adding Lasix off a pair of seconds going shorter on the grass, and is bred to go a mile. He’s actually dropping in class, going from open maiden special company to this maiden special for Ontario-bred graduates of any sale. MUSKOKA GIANT, a $350K yearling purchase by the popular Curlin, rallied for third in his lone outing in a one-mile maiden special. NORTHERN THUNDER looks next best, athough he doesn’t possess a very good turf pedigree.

FOURTH RACE

DEED’S LEGACY fought for the lead along the inside and prevailed in the front-end battle before weakening late to second in one of her better performances a month ago. BRIDLEWISE is dropping back down to the level at which she was a front-running third when going long in her penultimate race. HURRICANE EMILY just missed against easier after carving out the fractions when the rail was in the more speed-friendly lane 4 two weeks ago.

FIFTH RACE

BAZOO faded late to second at first asking in a shorter maiden special Aug. 24. His hot trainer is a little better second-time out than first. ARTIE MY BOY is adding blinkers off a prominent fourth in his one-mile opener on the grass. He’s worked well since, and his trainer excels with turnbacks. ALL INCLUSIVE has been working right along from the gate, and could get away cleanly from the dreaded one-hole before flashing some early foot.

SIXTH RACE

BARILKO folded in the stretch after opening up a clear lead on the turn last time in the 6 1/2-furlong Soaring Free Stakes over yielding ground. He worked five-eighths with Summer Stakes favorite Keep On Truckin the other day, and should make his presence felt in this five-furlong dash on the inner course. OLD CHESTNUT wired maiden special foes last time as the odds-on favorite going 5/8 on the inner course, while beating next-out winner Clear Destination. AYE AYE SIR is shedding the hood off a fading fourth at first asking in a turf tilt at the Spa.

SEVENTH RACE

PLEASECALLMEBACK is bred to be miler, and should welcome the opportunity to stretch his legs in this G1 BC Win and You’re In qualifier. He beat the well-regarded Tap It to Win in his victorious debut, and is coming off a closing second behind his unbeaten stablemate, Mr. Hustle, in the

Soaring Free Stakes. KEEP ON TRUCKIN won his two races in a pair of Tapeta sprints by a combined total of 19 1/2 lengths. The gifted gelding probably doesn’t need the lead, and is bred to for the grass. DECORATED INVADER ran first and second in two maiden special turf routes around two turns at Saratoga. MYSTIC LANCELOT won his 5 1/2-furlong opener at the Spa convincingly. The son of leading sire Into Mischief is the first foal from a router.

EIGHTH RACE

CAIRO DIAMOND rallied inside from off fast splits for second behind the sharp favorite in her encouraging debut going 5 1/2 furlongs. She has another half-a-furlong to work with here, along with some speed to chase. ROMAN D’ORO flattened out to fourth after attending the pace at first asking in a six-furlong turf sprint. The inexpensive daughter of the popular Medaglia d’Oro is adding Lasix and TGaff for this Tapeta tilt. HOLD THE APPLAUSE gave way grudgingly after leading the way when second against easier OS/$40K company in her five-furlong opener.

NINTH RACE

COACH LORI broke a tad slowly before closing stoutly from 5 1/2 lengths back to land her fivefurlong debut on the inner turf. She’s worked brilliantly since, and should find a one-turn mile to be ideal for her in this tough G1. FAIR MAIDEN won her last two outings in a romp with a Beyer in the low 90s, most notably a 6 1/2-furlong stakes here over yielding ground. Queen’s Plate-winning rider Prat takes over from the injured Wilson on the Godolphin homebred. Three-time winner WALK IN MARRAKESH was competitive in all five of her races in England and France, including a third in a G2 stakes over soft ground. DIAMOND SPARKLES is adding Lasix after graduating in a left-handed, seven-furlong allowance in England.

TENTH RACE

FAITH OVER FEAR saved ground throughout in a stalking position when fourth at first asking in a two-turn, 7 1/2-furlong inner turf event. Seveneighths around one turn in lane 1 on the main course should be suitable for the daughter of leading Canadian sire Silent Name. GOLDEN GARTER is dropping from maiden special company to where she figures to be a major player. MARWOODS WAR began slowly before finishing a belated fifth while just behind the top pick Aug. 28.

ELEVENTH RACE

FAST SCENE went too fast on the lead last time before tiring to fourth in the 6 1/2-furlong Catch A Glimpse Stakes over yielding ground. With Lasix added, she should take some catching in this fivefurlong dash in lane 2 on the inner course. MISS LUCY is an English import making her first start for trainer Wesley Ward, who has impressive numbers with new acquisitions. QUALITY HEAT is shortening up off a narrow maiden win over seven furlongs. Use her underneath in the exotics, along with BAYERLY SEEN and AVIE’S SAMURAI.
