ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Sister Peacock will look to record her third stakes win of the season in Sunday’s $100,000 Ruling Angel Stakes at Woodbine, an overnight stakes for 3-year-old fillies over 6 1/2 furlongs on Tapeta that drew a full field of 14.

Sister Peacock won the Star Shoot Stakes and the William D. Graham Memorial Stakes to begin her 2019 Woodbine campaign in the spring. She’s winless in her last three starts, but has hit the board in all seven races this season and in all nine races in her career.

“It would have to be a unique circumstance for her not to be on the board,” trainer Stu Simon said.

Last time out in the Sweet Briar Too Stakes against older fillies and mares, Sister Peacock pressed the pace of Jean Elizabeth in the early going, but couldn’t keep up with that rival and finished second. She’s breezed back since that start, covering four furlongs in 48.40 seconds on Oct. 5.

“She’s gotten better in all ways,” Simon said. “She doesn’t need the lead – she can rate. She’ll run on grass and on synthetic. She’s just become better and better and matured as you’d like a horse to.”

“She ran a good race last time against a tough bunch of older mares. She’s in good order to run in here.”
