BEST BET: RACE 5, EXTRA GORGEOUS

FIRST RACE

SWEET POISON got some play in her debut and even showed some speed before calling it a day. These are obviously much easier. One of three sibs beat winners and earned 151K. BUTTERCUP UP gets class relief and goes second off the layoff. The blinkers go on and that might be the key as this barn is 25% when doing so. WAY TOO CUTE ran OK in his second start when trying Los Al foes. What if he just didn’t like two turns in his most recent? SoCal lines will hurt his price but he still lands in a good barn that is 25% with their new runners.

SECOND RACE

LESEDI escapes Emerald foes even if her most recent was better. Her return to the turf is the key as Emerald doesn’t have a grass course. Local tries on this grass as just good. Connections find a great spot. DAME DANGEROUS might be the value. We like almost all of her Prairie Meadows races. She didn’t do much in her turf debut last out but it was coming off a layoff and her first on this circuit. Quick turnaround tells us that most recent didn’t take much out of her. STELLA SWEEPER is feeling good and we really liked her most recent. She finished third while facing 13 foes. Plus, she was well back early and didn’t spit the bit. UNA BRUJITA is by a 8% debut turf sire. Her dam went 2-0-0-0. Lone sib never tried the green. Her last race came back key when 2 of 8 returned to win with figs of 38 and 48. IMLITTLEBITCOUNTRY is by a 8% debut turf sire. Her dam went 1-0-0-0 on the green. Lone sibling never tried the weeds. WILLINLILVILLIAN is by a 0 for 30 debut turf sire. Her dam went 10-0-1-2 and earned 7K on the green. Lone sib never tried the sod.

THIRD RACE

JONESEY WHO likes this dirt and is just a solid runner. Restricted claimers should be just right. Works are well spaced and Vergara has won with this gelding before. ASSETS INCLUDED is a hard trier that goes for a barn that is 24% off the claim. He often runs well when drawn outside. First time this dirt is the X factor. SUCCESS RATE has some

back class. Only one local win in eleven tries is the main knock. Race flow is only OK also.

FOURTH RACE

BOUNDARY BAY is speed with more speed but at least he doesn’t draw in between all the zip. If you toss that route try two back then he looks even better. If you told us that he can stalk then we would have made him our best bet of the day. As it is now, we think he can just gut out the W. MY LUCKY MARK is more speed. That Santa Rosa win two back was nice and he actually passed a horse in doing so. He has a local work and goes for one of our favorite barns. ELLIOTT BAY is a router with no speed cutting back to a sprint. He gets great race flow and escapes stakes foes so maybe he can pass some tiring horses for a slice of the pie.

FIFTH RACE

EXTRA GORGEOUS is an improving 3YO later in the year. That alone, if given a good price, would be enough for us but wait there is more. She is bred to like the grass and is a multiple winner on the sod. She is bred to love a route of ground. She even has a local work. EMERALD LADY faced first time winners two back and won which is never easy. Her turf breeding is very good so maybe she isn’t done improving on the green. We like it when Scott Stevens rides for Linda Hatch (21%). GATTAIA is the one to beat. She is 2 for 2 on this sod, is feeling great, and goes for Diodoro. Plus, she has two local works. LULU’S LIGHTENING is by a 9% debut turf sire. Her dam went 3-0-0-2 on the green and banked 7K. This is her first foal to try the sod.

SIXTH RACE

DOC’S NEWPORT should be a bomb of a price. She can come from off the pace and there is a lot of speed in this race. It looks as if she just didn’t like running in Colorado. The last time she tried this dirt she got a 31 Beyer. DESTINY’S STORM ends up in a barn that is 14% with their new runners. We think this filly stalks a great trip from the rail. FLYING NEMO is speed stuck between speeds. Still, her debut Beyer of 63 towers over these. What if she is more mature now. The one to beat. CELESTIAL LIGHT is by a 3% debut sire. Her dam went 47-6-4-9 and earned 109K. This is her first foal. LAYLA’S WILDCAT exits a key race where 3 of 6 returned to win with Beyers of 66, 38, and 42.

SEVENTH RACE

SHAYMIN finds a great spot off the claim. His new barn is 4 for 10 off the red tag. This gelding has some back class and figures a great trip. His last race came back key when 2 of 5 returned to win with figs of 76 and 63. TRUMP RIDE ran OK in all of his local tries and they came before he broke his maiden. He has good speed and draws outside all of his pace rivals. He seems capable fresh but we have to admit that we would have liked to have seen more than 2 works. STONE CREEK gets in light and has fresh speed. If anyone is the speed of the speed then maybe it is this gelding. MIGHTY LION exits a key race where 2 of 6 returned to win with figs of 56 and 46.

EIGHTH RACE

This race is very good for the level. BUYMEABOND just figures as he goes for Diodoro and has won 5 of 11 on this sod. We will take a shot with our 2nd and 3rd picks as both will be a big price. COURAGEOUS is by a 5% debut turf sire. His dam missed the board in his only turf start. Both sibs beat winners on the grass. Current form is great. Yet to run here or on the grass is the tough part. HOTNTHIRSTY is by a 6% debut turf sire. His dam was un-raced. One of two sibs is a multiple grass winner of 76K that won its sod debut. Canadian form is quite good.
