How to play

- By Kenny Peck

RACE 4: While one or two of these fillies could be up against it a case can be made for the majority of them, making it a situation where it’s better to just use them all rather than try to be too fine, and possibly leave out a longshot or two. Given the fact it’s a limit field it will be necessary to pare down in later legs but that’s preferable to thinning this one down (12).

RACE 5: SPICE ROAD chased a loose winner and completed a two-speed exacta in his latest but he should get an improved race flow this time around. KID BOURBON makes his 2nd start off the layoff for trainer Mark Hennig, and the barn excels with that angle (2).

RACE 6: HAY FIELD could once again find herself perfectly spotted behind a contested pace, and with that type of trip her Beyers suggest she’s plenty good enough. BANK EXAMINER is another with the tactical speed to get position, as she proved in her latest. CASH OFFER is one of the primary speeds in the field and will take them as far as she can on the front end (3).

RACE 7: MAJESTIC REASON didn’t get the fastest of fractions to chase in the Gallant Bloom, and that cost her, but she still ran well and she can improve here if the splits are quicker. MS LOCUST POINT is one of the expected pacesetters in this field; the figure came back light but that was no easy trip when she was a game 2nd in the Regret at Monmouth in her latest. CHALON is the one to beat based on her consistent recent form (3).

RACE 8: FOOLS GOLD won the Waya at this distance two back, posting a Beyer (92) that certainly stamps her as a contender in this Zagora Stakes. LEMON ZIP is easy to like and is a must use, shipping in from Laurel with sharp recent form, having run 1st or 2nd in each of her last six starts (2).

RACE 9: TOP HAT INVASION has some speed and an inside post, with Beyers that are slowly increasing with each start. CRUISING STRONG is obviously the one to beat, and perhaps a single on many tickets based on that game try in her bow, and in her first start off the Cox claim. But HIGH SCHOOL CRUSH wasn’t that far behind her there, and that was with some trouble at the start (3).

THE PLAY: ALL / 4, 6 / 3, 5, 6 / 5, 6, 7 / 6, 8 / 1, 6, 7 = 1,296 Combinations ($259.20 Ticket)
