BEST BET: RACE 7, ROCKET SHIP

FIRST RACE

TEAM HOLLYWOOD ran OK at Cby but only OK. Some horses just don’t like certain places. This is still a filly that won her next two races after breaking her maiden so there is some talent here. She has a couple of local works and finds a good spot all for Diodoro. S U M RACER actually ran OK last out even though it was an elongated sprint at Lone Star. We think she is just better around two turns something she returns to today. When last seen on the local dirt, she won going a flat mile at 5/ 2 and with Stevens up. TOMORROW’S MINE has tactical speed and draws inside. She has won on this dirt before. We don’t see a local work though.

SECOND RACE

MINIMUM NOISE will try and be the speed of the speed. He cuts back a full furlong but we think he is still quickest. Second time this dirt can only help. This barn is a solid 26% on the dirt. ZOE’S PAPA CEE may not have cared for two turns on the turf in his most recent even if bred to like the green. That dirt try two back was solid. He puts the blinks on and draws outside. ADAPTATION is the other speed. Works are fine and the layoff is short. One of these days he is going to get an early breather or learn how to stalk.

THIRD RACE

CHRISTINE’S JACK is by a 16% debut turf sire. His dam went 45-9-11-1 on the green and earned 247K (won grass debut). One of two sibs is a multiple grass winner of 79K (other sib hit the board on the green). This gelding goes second time two turns, has a local work, and is bred to like the green.

FULLBRIDLEDPHANTOM is by a 15% debut turf sire. His dam went 26- 8-3- 4 and earned 126K on the sod. This is her first foal to try the green. This gelding just ran a Beyer top and did so around two turns at Fresno. LINEMANS CHECK just missed on this grass in his only turf start and it came locally (4 back). Turf breeding is solid. A new barn is noted. FLINCH is by a 12% debut turf sire. His dam was un-raced. Two sibs failed to hit the board on the grass. FACTORY MADE exits a key race where 2 of 5 returned to win with figs of 73 and 61.

FOURTH RACE

AUTISM IS HERE is the fresh speed and that is often the best speed. This gelding often breaks on top and that is key for today’s distance of 4 1/ 2 furlongs. The Silva barn is 44% when running a horse between 61-180 days. This gelding can fire fresh as he just missed off a layoff only two back. Class drop for new barn isn’t unusual. BRAVE TIMES was getting better at the end of the meet. Araphoe tries were OK. We like that this gelding got some time off. He draws inside and is a hard trier at this level. CHIPPINZEE never got a breather last out. He has won on this dirt before. He does have some speed but we think he sits just off the pace today.

FIFTH RACE

HANDSOME JOHN ran better two back. Then he tried the turf last out even though his turf breeding is poor. He ran great finishing third versus better. Now he gets back to the dirt which is his best surface. He also goes second time this circuit. He could be third or fourth choice on the tote, right? KIWITAHI won 2 and 4 back and maybe that bodes well for today. Confirmed closer doesn’t get much pace help but does race for Diodoro. He is 1 for 1 on a fast dirt surface. HAMAZING VISION just won nicely on this dirt. The other Diodoro runner keeps Carreno. This barn is 26% with their repeating winners. The main knock is that this gelding does not have any speed and this race doesn’t either. SO LONG SAILOR exits a key race where 2 of 6 returned to win with figs of 94 and 86. Recent works are fast.

SIXTH RACE

HEAVENLY HOLIDAY is the fresh face from California. She has won on a fast track before. A local work is noted as is this class drop for her new barn. BALLERINA HEADLINE probably needed that return try three back and her last few were better. She seems to like this distance at 17-5- 4-2. She has worked twice since her most recent. This barn is 23% when returning a horse between 31- 60 days. PANSHIR just ran better at Fresno. She has hit the exacta in 15 of 31 starts at this distance. Her lack of speed is the main knock. JUST LOOKIN AROUND has speed and exits a key race where 2 of 9 returned to win with figs of 52 and 49 (two others finished 2nd with Beyers of 35 and 32).

SEVENTH RACE

ROCKET SHIP is by a 17% debut turf sire. His dam missed the board in her only turf start. Lone sibling of this gelding to try the grass is 19- 5-3- 5 and earned 244K. New barn is 21% on the green. This gelding has worked five times since his most recent. Connections find a reasonable spot and this gelding should love the grass. READY TO FORGIVE has speed and goes second time this sod. He never got a breather last out. He might be more acclimated now. He did break his maiden around two turns at Churchill and did so versus special weights. SAMURAI JACK ran evenly last out and it was his first on the green. Second time this sod can hurt and he draws fine once again.

EIGHTH RACE

WILD ATLANTIC WAY gets some pace to chase so his trip won’t worry us any. His most recent was solid and he seems to like here. Last chance for a good price? PURPLE SKY sheds the blinkers and gets in light. Class drop might be the key as he faces restricted foes for the first time in a while (won six back). CARVILLE gets back to his best distance. Maybe he hated the fake dirt two back at Golden Gate. A new jock is noted.
