FOURTH RACE GULFSTREAM WEST

-

BONDETTI gets good race flow. He has some back class and drops today. Second time this dirt and second off the layoff both bode well. Trainer stats are solid across the board. HE’S SMOKIN HOT has some back class. He wants to pass runners and draws inside but isn’t stuck on the rail. Works are well spaced and the blinkers come off. New barn is 34% off the claim. Lone local try was a solid second versus special weights (59 Beyer). STINK MAN has some speed and can fire fresh. Palm Meadows works are solid and Jaramillo lands here. First time South Florida is a small X factor. Working out a good trip worries us the most.

FIFTH RACE

GRAN BRANDY won her debut going short on the grass but did so from the rail which is a tough spot for any debut. Then she hit the board going long on the grass versus stakes foes. She has a recent work and her win rider returns in Jaramillo. MS HEADLEY is by a 2 for 5 debut turf sire. Her dam never tried the green. Two sibs are a combined 3-0-0-0 on the green. Any chance her most recent was a prep for today’s grass start? Yes, sounds crazy but she had a couple of turf works going into that race and has since drilled two more times on the green. FREE THE BEAST won her turf debut and did so from the 10 hole. She has worked twice since. Maybe she just loves this sod. LADY ARCHA is by a 7% debut turf sire. Her dam went 4-0-0-0 on the green. One of three sibs won on the grass with another hitting the board. ROSALDA is by a 0 for 4 debut turf sire (1 for 5 with all turf starters). Her dam went 2-0-0-0 on the weeds. Two of four sibs won on the grass with another hitting the board. She exits a key race where 2 of 4 returned to win with figs of 67 and 62.

SIXTH RACE

ADALIDA is by a 23% debut sire (all sire stats are for 2YO’s only). Her dam went 5-1-3-1 and earned 40K. This is her first foal to race. The rail is a tough break but we think this filly might offer good value. SHADDAY is the one to beat. She goes from a 6% barn to a 32% barn which is also 39% off the claim. First Lasix and blinkers ON round out the appeal. PUKALANI is by a 11% debut sire. Her dam went 5-2-0-0 and earned 55K. Lone sib is 12-3-1-2 and earned 34K. This barn is 22% with their debut runners and they show a flat bet profit.

SEVENTH RACE

SLAMMIN’ MIKE has some speed and gets back to the dirt. What if he just does not like the grass? There isn’t much pace in this race so maybe this gelding can steal it. GUERRERON didn’t fire last out but it was on the grass something he has never liked (3-0-0-0). The O’Connell barn is 19% turf to dirt. What if that recent turf try was simply to prepare this guy for two turns? This gelding ran a then Beyer top when last seen going two turns on this dirt (10 back). GRAN CAUSEWAY has now run great in two starts on this dirt. Horse for course is real. He has some tactical speed and goes third off the layoff. His only two poor tries came on the grass and in the slop.

EIGHTH RACE

GRAND NENUCO draws well and gets better race flow today. We know that this gelding likes this sod at 3-1-0-1. Maybe the jock switch can help shake things up a bit. He certainly likes 7 1/2 furlongs at 15-4-3-2. A clean trip is key as he weaves his way around tiring animals down the stretch. CAUSE FOR PARDON is another deep closer that draws inside where he can save all the early ground. His most recent was solid and now he goes second time this sod. New barn is 19% off the claim. A recent work is noted. KING ORB is feeling great. Versatile style is never a bad thing. First time this sod is the X factor. The gelding will have to win this with a new rider though.
