BEST BET: RACE 7, AND WON

FIRST RACE

We like those two sprint tries for FOOT IN THE DOOR only 3 and 4 back which came at Monmouth. This gelding actually broke his maiden on this dirt and did so off a layoff. Local works should have him fit and ready. SHUDDAWUDDACUDDA has speed and who doesn’t like that commodity. He goes third time this dirt and escapes the rail with today’s outside draw. His maiden win came from an outside post going gate to wire. ZECHARIAH has back class and the best figs so why in the wide, wide, world of sports do connections want a dirt sprint? This gelding is even bred to love the grass. Local works are noted and this gelding will go favored. ELVIS COLE exits a key race where 3 of 8 returned to win with figs of 56, 62, and 67. ARCHIVERO exits a key race where 3 of 12 returned to win with figs of 68, 50, and 57.

SECOND RACE

WAPITI WAY catches a race with little pace and tries a real dirt surface for the first time. He comes in off a layoff and fresh horses often show better front speed first back. This gelding has a slew of works. Class drop looks just right. NO CHOICE broke dead last off the layoff so there is your excuse. He has shown speed before so maybe this is your early leader. This horse beat first time winners three back and we always like that. Catch him to cash? STEADY EARNER exits a key race where 3 of 7 returned to win with figs of 72, 85, and 81. This colt got a 76 Beyer only three back at Gulfstream. Any chance that this colt just hates the old Calder (GPW)? Camacho gets a leg up and he is 30% with this barn locally. NICOLE MUNNINGS exits a key race where 2 of 5 returned to win with figs of 71 and 74. If looking for a bomb, STRIKING HEIR won on this dirt and at this distance 9 back.

THIRD RACE

BACI tried two turns on the grass in her debut and ran OK in a tough spot. Someone thought enough of that debut to try Belmont foes in her second start but things just didn’t work out. This filly is bred to like the grass and did cost 70K. We don’t think this race came up very tough. MIAMAYA is by a 3% debut sire and a 5% debut turf sire. Her dam was un-raced. All 4 sibs won and 2 of 3 did so on the grass. The Stidham barn is 17% when debuting at a mile or over. SWEET BLOSSOM is feeling good but has a penchant for less (17-0-5-3). Her last race came back key when 2 of 6 returned to win with figs of 70 and 68. Maybe a change of scenery will do the trick. LIL BROWN SPARROW is by a 5% debut turf sire. Her dam was un-raced. Two of five sibs won on the grass and both beat winners. Last race came back key when 2 of 6 returned to win with figs of 67 and 63. SMART BUCK is by a 8% debut sire and a 0 for 15 debut turf sire. Her dam went 25-4-5-6 and earned 220K on the green. One of two sibs won while lone win came on the weeds. ABILIFY is by a 3% debut turf sire. Her dam was un-raced. Three sibs failed to hit the board on the green.

FOURTH RACE

TALE OFVK has some speed, is a beaten favorite, and owns the best last race Beyer. We don’t think this race came up very tough. Camacho stays put and he knows this filly well. ELUSIVE RYDER tried a not so easy 7 panels last out and ran OK. She gets off the rail today which can’t hurt. This barn is 0 for 48 in maiden claimers. BREWED TO BE PERFECT got a 40 Beyer in her only real dirt effort which came three back at Fort Erie. Trainer starts are solid. Local work is well spaced.

FIFTH RACE

GENERAL goes second time this sod and second time with new barn. This gelding didn’t get a clean trip last out. Those turf tries 2 and 3 back are rock solid. We like the jock switch to Allen. TAXMAN has speed and should find the front end where an early breather awaits. He is bred to get the distance but prior turf routes 2 and 4 back were poor. He did not get a soft pace in either which

might change today. Curious as to price. FALSE

INFO ran OK off the layoff and has every right to improve in this spot. He goes for a solid turf barn and keeps Gallardo. Is this your favorite? SON OF SO exits a key race where 3 of 6 returned to win with figs of 73, 61, and 58 (another finished 2nd with a 73 Beyer). SPINOS exits a key race where 2 of 9 returned to win with figs of 62 and 71.

SIXTH RACE

BANK VAULT is by a 9% debut sire (all sire stats are for 2YO’s only). His dam went 8-3-2-1 and is a stakes winner of 126K. Both sibs won with the best being 20-2-2-3 and banked 29K. Work tab is well spaced and this barn shows a flat bet profit with their first time starters. MIGHTY PETE is by a 3 for 9 debut sire. His dam went 8-1-0-1 and earned 9K. This is her first foal to race. Work tab isn’t our favorite so insist on a good price. MUST BE A MONSTER drops in class and tries a real dirt surface for the first time. What if this gelding has matured some since last being seen about four months ago?

SEVENTH RACE

Lots and lots of speed in this race. AND WON should trip out best being a deep closer in a race full of speed. Current form is very good and we love those Hawthorne grass wins two and three back. He will get to save all the early ground in this race. He has won on this grass before and with Gallardo up. DOVER CLIFFS figures a good stalking trip off the speeds. He loves this grass and has missed the exacta only once in five tries. This barn is 18% second off this type of layoff. ACTION EVERYDAY has speed and draws inside main pace foes. Could we see another front end try? It almost worked last out at 7-1. Any chance this gelding is a horse for course before everyone knows it? This barn is 19% second off this type of layoff.

EIGHTH RACE

COMPLETE SURPRISE actually got some play in her debut at that was versus special weights at Keeneland. On top of that, she hopped at the start and then had some trouble. She came here in her second start and ran great with a 70 Beyer. Second time this dirt can only help. The absolute one to beat. FASHION RULES did beat half the field home in her debut. Belmont foes in her second start and those aren’t easy. Can’t fault connections for taking a shot on the grass in her last start and that race came back key when 2 of 2 returned to win with figs of 76 and 67. Lots and lots of local works which is something we like for runners shipping in. MY GIRL SWEET has some speed and goes second time this dirt and second time routing. Second time Lasix for a filly is a favorite angle of ours. FLASHING RED is by a 21% debut sire (all sire stats are for 2YO’s only). Her dam went 5-1-0-0 and earned 15K. All 3 sibs won including a multiple winner. BLAZINONBAYOU is by a 10% debut sire. Her dam went 10-1-1-2 and earned 20K. This is her first foal to race.

NINTH RACE

KHOLSTOMER has only tried the grass once and it came two back at Arlington with trouble. His other starts are all solid. His turf breeding is good while last race came back key when 2 of 5 returned to win with figs of 76 and 60 (another two finished 2nd with figs of 78 and 72). BLAME THE MAKERS is by a 11% debut turf sire. His dam went 4-0-0-0 on the green. All 3 sibs lost on the green but one hit the board. This gelding got a 69 Beyer on the local dirt five back so maybe he just likes it here. DAY TRIP is by a 14% debut sire and a 11% debut turf sire. His dam was un-raced. Both sibs beat winners with the best being Book Review who earned 804K. Neither sibling tried the grass. Trainer stats are obviously good but work tab isn’t our favorite. Over bet? HOMERS MAGIC is by a 17% debut sire and a 14% debut turf sire. His dam was un-raced. One of two sibs won (one of two hit the board on the grass).
