Daily Racing Form National Digital Edition

ANALYSIS

-

FIRST RACE

Taking a flyer in the opener with MUSIC MUSIC who flashed speed following poor start in only previous outing. Oddly runs with blinkers on today although did not work with blinkers on 1/24. MARKISTAN showed big improvement when dropping to this level last time. Strictly one to beat with repeat of that effort. QUEEN ABARRIO ran well from tough post last time and an improving sort at this time.

SECOND RACE

RECESS and COMIC KITTEN drop in price after chasing home in form Champagne Horizon who posted his second straight with a perfect tripi under $30K tag on 1/2. Former got hung wide throughout, ran on willingly enough and may appreciate the added ground. Comic K sat a perfect trip, failed to kick on as the 9-5 choice hence the class drop with a bit more suitable company today. BARBADOLLA exits same race when failing to menace from outside post. Better drawn on rail here.

THIRD RACE

DAILY GRACE ran well albeit in a weakly graded Fla. bred MSW dash in her bow but looked good with addition of blinkers in final prep for this. SHAZZY B also turned in promising effort at first asking and taken to move forward off the effort. FORTUNATE CAT a new face to a relatively soft looking category and not the bullet work at Tampa on 1/1-. Barn can surely have one ready off the bench. Watching board for further evidence.

FOURTH RACE

WAR FEATHER back to level at which he turn in near miss when allowed to control all the pace two back and could get loose again in a field lacking much in the way of any real early foot. MALIBU MUSIC also ran well under these same condition on 11/30, has been over-matched in last pair with addition of blinkers. Shades come off today. YOUSHOULDBESOLUCKY knocking on the door with this kind, edged top one for second money in pair’s previous encounter.

FIFTH RACE

Will stick with the hot hand and give MAGICAL MIKE from Saffie Joseph barn another look switching to the turf off disappointing main track bow. Bred for the going, figures on or with pace throughout on the stretch around two turns. NORTH DAKOTA back to his preferred surface, knocking on the door

with this kind. GOLDEN TAPIT another eligible to improve switching to grass being a half to G1 turf winner Paddy O’Prado. Working well on PM lawn for this.

SIXTH RACE

BLAMED back on short rest after getting cooked in suicidal pace duel in the Inside Information. Deserves a mulligan dropping to this softer spot, should assert her class edge if avoiding similar fate today. NO NEED TO APPEAL away a long time but barn certainly capable of having one ready for best off the bench. Should sit the trip behind all the speed signed on here. HEIRESSALL continues to hold her form nicely. Should grab another share.

SEVENTH RACE

SPA CITY turned in winning effort stretching to mile only to run afoul of very talented Caracaro who exploded to a 6 length win with 90 plus Beyer performance on graduation today. Does not appear to be catching that kind here, must get some early position from dicey post at this distance. TELEPHONE TALKER a hanging sort who has burnt a lot of chalk in last pair but obviously talented enough to finally earn elusive diploma with the right trip and pace set up. UNRIGHTEOUS also exits the Caracaro race when finishing a distance fourth off some decent a.m. trials. Continues to work well, expecting improvement in his return at a fair price.

EIGHTH RACE

DESERT GENERAL gets the call dropping to this level for first time locally. Holding own with better in both previous tries. CABRE in top form but stepping in against open claiming company for first time today. DR HARLAN rallied from far back to win key race from which 4th finisher Jersey Joe B returned to beat much better at next asking. Stretch running sort, as always will need some help up front.

NINTH RACE

TIPSY KITTEN continues to prove popular item at claim box. Got hung wide last time turning in even try with same bunch on dirt, returns to possibly his preferred surface off a series of sharp works. Tepid nod in another of thjese super wide open turf claimers. TWENTY FOUR SEVEN away a long time but with plenty of back class to draw on if ready for the return. CASH CALL KITTEN tailed off in final two starts of the 2019 campaign after a series of well graded victories here last summer. Must respect if able to run back to those efforts today.

TENTH RACE

RICKI TICKI TAFFI no match for nemesis Shivaree in the Limehouse but not facing that caliber dropping in against allowance types for first time. Should get back on winning track. CROSS COURT no match for Untitled in debut before running away from easier competition in his second start. Lures Irad with Tyler G. out of town today. One to fear. WITH VERVE re-unites with Prado, can come running for at least a minor prize.

ELEVENTH RACE

MAGIC STAR a rising star for Brown stable. What she lacks in experience she makes up for with enough talent to perhaps run down the heavy favorite STARSHIP JUBILEE with another forward move. The latter a horse for the course who returns on short rest off an easy win in the Sunshine Millions. May not see the front end as readily today. TAPIT TODAY returned from a lengthy hiatus to prove easy allowance winner at Tampa and another lightly raced sort from team Brown capable of best yet in graded stakes debut.

TWELFTH RACE

EIGHT AIN’T ENOUGH stuck in second gear and a beat favorite in his last pair with this same kind but looks too good for this slow group in the nightcap. MYSTERY GUEST another who has disappointed chalkplayers on a couple of previous occasions but looks like chief threat to preferred one here. JOE BENJAMIN over-matched while catching yielding ground debuting last spring at Keeneland. Adds blinkers, gets significant class relief for second starts. Has logged plenty of miles in the a.m. prepping for return.
