Heritage Place trials continue

The filly Aint She Tempting has been at the forefront of the 2-year-old division at the Remington Park Quarter Horse meeting since her upset win in the $383,700 Oklahoma Futurity at 300 yards on March 21.

Saturday, Aint She Tempting will start in the opening race at Remington Park, the first of 10 time trials for the $1 million Heritage Place Futurity at 350 yards on May 30. The runners with the five fastest times from Saturday’s trials, regardless of finishing positions, will advance to the final, joining five runners from Friday’s trials.

Aint She Tempting was supplemented to the Heritage Place Futurity for $25,000 by owners Dunn Ranch and

Levings Racing when entries were taken last weekend. All that paid for was a berth in the trials.

Aint She Tempting won the Oklahoma Futurity by a length over Relentlessly, who starts in Saturday’s 10th trial.

Trained by Monty Arrossa, Aint She Tempting will be ridden by leading rider James Flores and is the most accomplished of 95 entrants in the trials. The runners include 25 first-time starters, 56 maidens with race experience, and 14 winners.

Through Sunday, Flores led all riders with 51 wins at the meeting, which began on March 6. He has eight mounts on Saturday.

“If you can get one in a $1 million race, it’s exciting,” Flores said on Thursday morning. “If I can get more than one, it’s great.”

Riding more than one qualifier will require a late May decision on which mount to choose for the final. That has occurred to some extent in selecting mounts for the time trials, he said.

“If you get two that draw in the same race, you have to hope to make the best pick,” Flores said. “I’ve got some pretty good mounts.”

First post time on Saturday is 7 p.m. Eastern, or 6 p.m. Central. Wagering is available through DRFBets.com.

Other notable runners on the program are First Lucy Lark, who starts in the third race. She was eighth in the $891,900 Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Futurity on April 18.

In the fifth race, Ferrari B will be favored on the basis of her second in the $48,500 Laico Bird Stakes at 330 yards on April 18.

There will be widespread interest in the debut of Teller Im Alive in the eighth race. The filly was purchased for $90,000 at the Heritage Place yearling sale last September and has worked quickly this spring for trainer Clinton Crawford.
