BEST BET: RACE 4, BIRD MAP

FIRST RACE

Hopeful but not certain there will be turf racing today at press time on Wednesday. VEER made run at leaders, faltered late in relatively well graded $16K affair now drops another notch, earns slight edge if this one stays on grass. CACTUS KITTEN has done all her work prepping for bow in Kentucky but is by Kitten’s Joy and sporting top J/T connections. Must respect launching career against weak, bottom level maidens. GOOD BIT OF BIZNESS winless in a dozen tries but was hard used on lead last time returning from five month hiatus. Lures hot rider, could prove sleeper second off the layoff.

SECOND RACE

SAY CHEESE comes off quick gate run at PM prepping for bow and by above average debut sire Adios Charlie. Barn sports big numbers with first time starters for a tag. SPECIAL INCLUSION ran well against similarly priced opposition in bow. The logical one amongst the experienced members of field. TEMPT ME broke poorly rushed up down backstretch, raced greenly down the lane at first asking and eligible to improve, outrun her odds with more experienced pilot taking the call.

THIRD RACE

Hard to look past COMBINATION at the short price if this one moves to the main. In peak form at the present time. BLACK JET has been away since December but barn very capable of having one ready off the bench. Figures to come out flying with Jaramillo up. EARTH also has some early foot while dropping to weakest level yet. Figures prominently throughout. Bordini could be coming best of all if this one ties up at the end.

FOURTH RACE

BIRD MAP another main track only entrant who appears to hold big edge should weather force turf course to close for business again today. SUNSET PROMISE the nod if this one goes as scheduled. Didn’t have best of trips last time, picks up Edgard for today’s assignment while dropping to weakest spot in some time. JADES GELLY a bit of a question mark at the distance, could take this one a long ways on front end stretching around two turns off steady diet of sprint races to open her career.

FIFTH RACE

PRETZEL put in a bit of a middle run, proved no match for top pair in race won by her stable mate five weeks earlier. Has put in plenty of work in the interim, eligible to move well forward from the experience. DEEMED ESSENTIAL by first year sire Upstart out of a G3 placed mare and king to $155K earner Creative Style. Must respect sporting these J/T connections despite a bit unfavorably drawn on the rail for debut. JILL’S A HOT MESS a NY bred launching career in Florida but has shown some real speed in the a.m., might stand some catching if fit enough at first asking. Go Jo Jo Go was making a late run when clipping heels, losing rider in early stretch of her debut, looked like she was going to finish second that day with clean sailing.

SIXTH RACE

FRANK FIRST another main track only entrant on this card who’d be well spotted if there is a surface change. Comes off best yet and Irad has signed on again. LOOKIN AT ROSES the tepid nod should this one go as scheduled on turf. One of only a few in here proven at the distance. Stretch running sort should get an honest pace to run at with SOVEREIGN WARRIOR and Conquistador in lline up.
