SEVENTH RACE

-

PIQUET beat $15K NW2 stock the last time she returned from a long layoff Dec. 13, and can obviously fire when fresh. Her trainer nearly broke through on Thursday. GOLDEN GARTER polished off $40K NW2 types in a recent dirt sprint at Gulfstream. She broke her maiden on the Tapeta last September. GIZMO FLASH earned a career high 68 Beyer when defeating NW2 opposition Dec. 4, and the hot Moran retains the mount.

EIGHTH RACE

GRAY’S FABLE lost a heartbreaker after setting a moderate pace last time going a mile in a good key race at Gulfstream. The handsome gray is questionable over the 6 1/2-furlong distance of this N1X, but his fitness edge on the others could carry him to victory. First-time gelding FINALIST could improve significantly under Kimura, who doubled up on Thursday. VIEWFINDER figures to rally for a slice of the purse in his first appearance in seven months. Use him in the lower rungs of the gimmicks, along with TIMESKIP.

NINTH RACE

MALIBU MAMBO, the Queen’s Plate Winterbook favorite, rallied wide over an inside-biased track to just miss in the Coronation Futurity. He can fire when fresh, and could mow down all the speed in his first start with Lasix and Contreras. CLAYTON was scratched from Saturday’s Woodstock Stakes in favor of this longer allowance. The impressive debut winner is another Plate hopeful with lots of ability. ARTEMUS CITYLIMITS prevailed in the front-end battle and the war when beating maidens at first asking with an 81 Beyer over Turfway’s Polytrack.

TENTH RACE

TORPEDO MAX had a wide trip over an insidefavoring track when third in the Frost King Stakes, from which the winner exited to take another OS stakes, and from which the runner-up exited to romp in an N1X (87 Beyer). THE REIGN MAN dueled through soft fractions before weakening to third in the Kingarvie Stakes, earning a good 76 Beyer in the process. SPEEDY BOLT parlayed an ideal stalking trip into a convincing maiden score Nov. 10. EXECUTIVE RETREAT is another possibility.

ELEVENTH RACE

LINDA LOVES LACE raced in a four-wide position to finish fourth over an inside-preferred track in her lone race Dec. 7. She figures to have another wide journey after breaking from the far outside under Wilson, who led the standings after opening weekend. QUEEN’S SPEED checked in seventh behind three next-out winners Oct. 26. Her connections won with Forester’s Turn on Thursday. SILENT CAUSEWAY rode an inside bias to a belated fourth Nov. 9. First-timer ATTENTIONSEEKER figures to flash some early foot, like most of this barn’s runners.
