BEST BET: RACE 3, SOMETHING SUPER

FIRST RACE

BEE BRIDGE moves back to two turns for the opener and the son of English Channel put up his best turf Beyer Figure at the configuration last winter at Gulfstream Park. As for the race he exits, it has become a key one. The runner-up came back in his next start to win a maiden allowance at LS with a Beyer of 70 and the 11th-place finisher, Pure Speculation, a $7,500 maiden claimer at LS, with a Beyer of 55. JUST ASK JOEL is another moving back to two turns and in his lone turf start at the configuration he was a strong third in his career debut. THAT DUDE must overcome the wide post, but could be somewhat prominent on the stretchout from five-eighths. He exits the same key race as top choice.

SECOND RACE

MEN OF KYLE returns to the Texas-bred ranks and both of his career wins to date have come against such foes. He also cuts back from two turns to seven-eighths and his last win came at this distance. TRULY BLING should be sharp for the seven-eighths start off the five and a half panel race. He also has reason to move forward in his second start since March. IMA REAL DEAL finished right behind TRULY BLING last out and this also marks his second race since March.

THIRD RACE

SOMETHING SUPER set the pace over a laboring kind of track last out and might be better-served if the strip is fast as his maiden win came over such a surface. This marks his second start since February. GEORGIA DEPUTY caught a wet track last time and would seem best served if the strip is fast as he’s done his best work over such footing. GEORGIA DEPUTY has an age edge on top choice as he is 4. SHANGHAI SKIPPER ran a big race off the bench last out and for this trip draws what might prove to be a better post.

FOURTH RACE

TWIRLING AROUND is a January foal who has seen steeper. SILVER COIN was third against similar last out and is a logical choice back. She also is returning to the six furlong distance of her maiden win, and she has an age edge on top choice as she is 4. DOC’S DENITA, who could be scratched after clearing this condition the same day entries were drawn for this card, returns to dirt and she is a winner on the main track.

FIFTH RACE

PALVERA meets older rivals for the first time, but owns the field’s best last-race Beyer Figure. He also exits a key race. The sixth-place finisher, Lucky Curlin, came back in his next start to win an optional $75K claimer at WO with a Beyer of 85 and the seventh-place finisher, Carpe Victoriam, a $30K claimer at OP, with a Beyer of 73. JACK VAN BERG makes his turf debut for a sire who is getting 6 percent debut turf winners and 9 percent winners overall on the grass. This one’s dam was placed on turf from two grass starts and she has produced a runner who also placed on the grass, from three starts on the surface. NOLA WIN ran a credible second off the bench last out and now makes his second start since February.

SIXTH RACE

STILL OF THE NIGHT has an experience edge on most of these on account of her debut effort last out at Lone Star. The February foal showed good speed and finished a credible second. She’s a halfsister to the multiple stakes winners Triumph and Song ($309K) and Bravura ($189K). The latter was a two-time winner at 2. THATSALOTOFBLING exits same race as top choice and that gives her an experience edge on most of these. Her dam was a winner at 2. CLIPPER COVE is a February foal by a stallion who is getting 15 percent juvenile debut winners and 15 percent 2-year-old winners overall. SHOW ME GRACE is from a mare who was Grade 3-placed at 2.

SEVENTH RACE

The stakes-placed VIOLENT RIDGE seems like one who can be closer to the pace than he found himself last time, when fifth in his Lone Star debut. Since the out, the third-place finisher from the race has returned to win a local allowance. As for VIOLENT RIDGE, he is coming off a strong meet at Oaklawn and is further appealing as a three-time winner facing some less-experienced rivals. DEFENDER cuts back to one turn after showing speed around two and looking for him to be strong through the lane on account of the distance move. He is from a stakes-winning mare who ran out $312K - while his sire won the Breeders’ Cup Classic here at Lone Star. SOAP BUBBLE is a half-brother to a pair of Group 3 winners, with one earning $771K and the other, $220K. This one has reason to move forward in his second start since September. SHIFTY HENRY is a half-brother to multiple stakes winners Triumph and Song ($309K) and Bravura ($189K) and note their little sister, Still of the Night, was to start as a top contender in the sixth at Lone Star. NO DEBATE is a full brother to Ministry, a multiple stakes winner who earned $303K.

EIGHTH RACE

FLEETA BELLE exits a key race. The runner-up came back to win a $12.5K starter at OP with a Beyer of 78 and the third-place finisher, a $16K conditioned claimer, also at OP, with a Beyer of 69. STALEMATE comes in sharp, off an N1X win at this five-furlong turf sprint trip at Lone Star. HAWKEYE GIRL would seem best-served if her race remains on the grass this time around as she’s done her best work on the surface. More than capable. The race BIG TINY exits has produced a pair of nextout winners, with the third-place finisher coming back to take an N1X at LS with a Beyer of 73 and the fifth-place finisher, Final Form, another N1X at LS, with a Beyer of 90.

NINTH RACE

GHOSTLY WHO is back in the straight claiming ranks and the last time he ran against such foes he just missed for this price. SMACK RIDGE also returns to the straight claiming ranks and has back class to call upon. UNBROKEN SONG is back in the overnight ranks and his last win came for a similar price.
