BEST BET: RACE 1, FRED’STWIRLINCANDY

FIRST RACE

FRED’STWIRLINCANDY gets the nod in the opener off a runner-up finish against steeper. The start came at this mile trip at Lone Star and the race was his first since September. For the effort FRED’STWIRLINCANDY earned what ranks as this field’s best last-race Beyer Figure. CAIRO KING was just edged last time in a race that has produced three next-out winners. The fourth-place finisher, Dont Tell Nobody, returned in his next start to take a $15K conditioned claimer at WRD with a Beyer of 51, the sixth-place finisher, Sonic Jet, won at the same level at WRD with a Beyer of 60, and the eighth-place finisher, Proud Moments, came back to take a $7,500 conditioned claimer at WRD, with a Beyer of 59. MORHAWK sprinted off the layoff last time and now moves back to the two-turn trip over which he just missed in March.

SECOND RACE

BUCK DUANE returns to the six furlong trip of his last win and best recent Beyer Figure. He also removes blinkers in what is a high percentage equipment move for Diodoro. FRONT PAGE cuts back to one turn and his last win came at the trip. BLAISING GUITAR finished in front of top choice last out and has proven to be a consistent sort.

THIRD RACE

GALACTICA is back in the overnight ranks after facing stakes rivals last out and note the winner and runner-up from that race were to run back here Sunday. As for GALACTICA, he’s cutting back to one turn and he’s done some of his best work at the trip. FROSTED BLING is a logical choice off the runner-up finish at this level last out. He also could sit closer to the pace than the turnbacking GALACTICA and that could be an advantage at five and a half furlongs. MEME JO is on top of his game, with back-to-back wins on the main track at Lone Star. Both came for this price.

FOURTH RACE

FULL TRIGGER was third to an eventual stakes winner in his career debut back in January and note that horse, Gold Pilot, was to have run back Sunday in the Grand Prairie Derby at Lone Star. As for the race FULL TRIGGER exits, it has become a key one. The third-place finisher came back to take a maiden allowance at Hou with a Beyer of 51 and the sixth-place finisher, Paw’s Salty Pepper, a $25K maiden claimer, also at Hou, with a Beyer of 41. TEXAS CROSSBOW showed speed in his comeback race last out and has reason to move forward in his second start since September. THEORIST ran a credible fourth in his debut and can move forward for the experience of a race.

FIFTH RACE

TIGERBEACH was favored at this level in his local debut last out and he had his share of trouble, according to his running line. He’s appealing in his second start in off the layoff, and as a fivetime winner facing some less-experienced rivals. TIGERBEACH also earned a series of competitive Beyer Figures while in California. On a pedigree point, the stakes-placed runner is a half-brother to multiple stakes winner Iron Rob ($280K). MR. PRIORITY is back in the overnight ranks off the statebred stakes start at Fair Grounds in which he hooked a Louisiana-bred Horse of the Year in Monte Man. NOVEMBER MIKE ran a big race last out, when just edged in his turf debut. The race also marked his first start against winners.

SIXTH RACE

MAJESTIC DAY, who was favored against steeper last out, returns to the two-turn trip of his best recent races. AGITATOR must overcome the wide draw, but is well-versed at the mile trip and has one of the meet’s winningest teams in his corner in Broberg and Cabrera. WILKY G has caught wet tracks in each of his last two starts and might be better served if the strip is fast based on his main track efforts at both Sam Houston and Remington. HUMOR CONTROLLER gets good pedigree support for the move to two turns.

FINAL FORM turned in one of the most impressive performances of the meet last out, when a dominant winner of a first-level allowance at Lone Star. She earned a career-high Beyer Speed Figure of 90 and has since been flattered, with the runner-up Rizzi’s Honors coming back to take an allowance last week at Lone Star. FINAL FORM has tactical speed and could get a nice tracking trip behind a few of these. NOMIZAR exits a key rcae. The third-place finisher came back in her next start to account for the $50K Lady Slipper at Cby with a Beyer of 88 and the fourth-place finisher, A.P. Princess, a conditioned allowance at BtP, with a Beyer of 66. TRUE CASTLE was a sharp winner in her LS debut last out and has since been flattered. The third-place finisher from the race came back to take an N1X at LS with a Beyer of 73 and the fifth-place finisher, FINAL FORM, turned in the big effort at Lone Star. TRUE CASTLE is shortening up from seven-eighths to six furlongs and she was a two-time winner at this trip at Oaklawn. Adding depth to the field here is the presence of stakes winners KASSERINE PASS and TRIXIE RACER, as well as the up and coming ELUSIVE ROSE.

EIGHTH RACE

CONQUEST TRIUMPH should be sharp for the move to two turns off the sprint comeback and he gets good pedigree support for the added distance demands as a son of Arch. Adding to his appeal is the bullet five-eighths work June 21. R FAST LIFE was a wire-to-wire winner for this price last out and on the move back to two turns could be quite prominent. He also draws a useful kind of post. HARDLY SEEN SLIM can make a real impact with a repeat of his effort from May at Lone Star.

NINTH RACE

HOLIDAY TIME exits a quick turf sprint against steeper and the out was her first since January. On a pedigree point, the consistent sort is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Holiday Runner ($232K). ELLE’S TOWN cuts back to one turn after wiring the locals over a mile last out and she was a turf sprint winner earlier in her career. On a pedigree point, the stakes-placed runner is from a stakes-winning mare who ran out $163K. QUICK QUICK QUICK is another turnback prospect, as she goes from a mile to five-eighths and her best recent races have come sprinting on the grass. On a pedigree point, she’s a full sister to Viva Majorca, a stakes winner of $319K.
