Futurity finalists BF Outfoosed, Hi High Hopes, and La Reina Del Sur 1 and the two-time winners Alltime Favorite and Sassies Blues Girl are among the leading 2-year-olds in Saturday’s time trials for the Governor’s Cup Futurity at Los Alamitos.

There are five trials on the eight-race program, which begins at 7:05 p.m. Pacific. Wagering is available through DRFBets.com. The trials are the fourth through eighth races.

The runners with the 10 fastest times, regardless of finishing position, will advance to the final on July 25, which has an estimated purse of $400,000.

BF Outfoosed finished last of 10 after a poor start in the $1.15 million Ed Burke Million Futurity on June 21. Trained by Paul Jones, BF Outfoosed starts in Saturday’s fifth race, the second of the five trials.

A gelding, BF Outfoosed’s main rival is Sassies Blues Girl, who is undefeated. Trained by Mike Casselman, Sassies Blues Girl won a maiden special weight race on May 2 and a division of the Ed Burke time trials on June 7, but was not quick enough to qualify for the final.

Alltime Favorite in race 6 has a record similar to Sassies Blues Girl, with wins in a maiden race and a division of the Ed Burke trials. Trained by Monty Arrossa, Alltime Favorite may not be favored, a role that could go to the quick maiden race winner Single Brad.

The final time trial, the eighth race, is the second meeting between La Reina Del Sur 1 and Hi High Hopes, who were fourth and sixth in the $279,200 Kindergarten Futurity on May 17 at Los Alamitos. La Reina Del Sur 1 has not started since the Kindergarten. Hi High Hopes was seventh in a division of the Ed Burke trials.

Hi High Hopes, trained by Jones, is a maiden after four starts.

The fourth and seventh races, the first and fourth trials, do not have any prominent runners from recent futurities.

In the fourth race, Favorite Five is the only winner in a field of eight and has drawn the outside post. Favorite Five won a maiden race May 15 and was third in a division of the Ed Burke trials.

The seventh race has a field of eight, including five maiden race winners – Kingman Born, Monopolist, Opt Out, Powerful Road, and Swingin Mr Cartel.
