BEST BET: RACE 5, SOLID AS A ROCK

FIRST RACE

Status of turf races unclear with 60 per cent chance for rain in forecast at press time. I LOVE MAGEL gets Lasix for 3yo debut and major class relief. Has enough speed to lead these merry chase in opener. NENITA ran well against the grain of track bias stretching to 7 furlongs last time. Turns back in distance, may have best late kick of the bunch. CABRINA has burnt a lot of chalk and obviously a problem at the gate but cannot be ignored if managing to leave with the others today.

SECOND RACE

A really strong looking group of babies in the first 6 furlongs 2yo maiden dash of meet. FOUZIA suffered through brutal trip in debut, should benefit from the outing. Has the speed to stand some catching if away cleanly the second time around. WHOLEBODEMEISTER also ran into trouble on a couple of occasions in the same race as preferred choice. Deserves a second chance as well. Among the firsters, CON LIMA, Freak and Happy Constitution all bear watching. Copn Lima by above average debut sire out of a mare who earned over $200K in her career. Barn on a roll of late and note a pair of bullet gate drills on resume’. Freak has had plenty of works under her belt both locally and on farm with stable going to its go to rider today. Looks to have talent if not needing one at first asking. The same goes for Happy Constitution by red hot sire Constitution and kin to multiple SW Katie’s Eyes.

THIRD RACE

SENSATIONAL RIDE a 19 time winner who fought the deep rail last time. Has the speed to perhaps prove one to catch if hustled along from the outset. BLAME THE THIEF disappointed as even money choice while not getting the cleanest of runs over a wet track returning locally in his latest. Zayas stays for top barn off the claim. MILLIONAIRE RUNNER a consistent sort from a Beyer stan point, might run in for minor share at his best.

FOURTH RACE

ACT LIKE ARTIE takes big plunge into selling ranks, need only repeat near miss two back vs. MSW foes to graduate at what figures to be very short price assuming this one goes on grass as scheduled. TOKYO steps up a notch off the claim while exiting another improved showing, rallying from off soft pace to just fail for $16K tag. CAMELLIA GAL stretches back around two turns, has the speed to be dangerous if able to shake loose early from Caffeine Rush.

FIFTH RACE

SOLID AS A ROCK easily handled a notch softer last time, looks like she should be able to control things from the outset once again. LADY ARCHA a five time winner who steps up a notch off the claim while turning back to six furlongs today, a distance at which she’s a perfect 2 for 2 to this point. Should come running at the end. BIBIANA hard to fault in current form, won last despite a less than clean run.

SIXTH RACE

GITANA dueled, held on gamely to end, just missed when trapped in deeper going near rail when tagged for first time two weeks earlier. Back a bit quick off career best number but still hard

to ignore if able to repeat the effort in this spot.

INDEPENDENT MISS getting plenty of class relief dropping out of steady diet of MSW efforts. One to beat. PRINCESS BETTY ran well debuting for higher tag albeit with the aid of the track bias in a race that graded out on the slow side that day. Still hard to ignore with one under her belt.

SEVENTH RACE

MAVERICK KITTEN another Ramsey/Maker turf specialist dropping to what appears a winning spot if the races go as scheduled on the turf today. If not, STAR WEAVER offered up for some value. Also getting much needed class relief after making a little middle run from far outside in bow. Could prove sleeper for this tag. CHAMPERS another taking the plunge off even effort for twice the price in local bow.

EIGHTH RACE

RACK GIN drops, facing far weaker than he’s encountered in both previous tries vs. winners and looks to quick for these if away cleanly. May not look back if able to avoid early duel with Sandys Blaze. CITY PARK could be the beneficiary if the speed does tie up at the end. Addition of blinkers might be the cure to some hanging problems of late. BLESSED JOURNEY has won just one of a dozen starts but on the fringes many times along the way and exiting career best Beyer number just 13 days earlier.

NINTH RACE

ROYAL DUKE back to the main where he run bang up second behind Overdeliver in his 3yo finale back in December. Should benefit from last try on grass, drop in company. Figures on or with pace throughout if away running from outside post. MINTZ no match for runaway winner stretching to seven furlongs last time, turns back, not facing that kind in here. The same goes for WAR ACT who finished just a length behind Mintz in their previous outings while posting career best Beyer in process.

TENTH RACE

VINNIE VAN GO ran well despite catching deeper going near inside when dropped for this tag on 6/20 with both horses to have started back out of the race, also-rans Arrivederia and Star Juancho, both winning next starts by daylight. In dangerous hands off the claim. SILVERLY ENOUGH exits same key race as preferred choice and a late running sort who should find pace scenario here to his liking. TAKE CHARGE DUDE another switching to barn with big numbers off the claim, has enough back class to fit here especially with Zayas taking the call.

ELEVENTH RACE

INDIMAAJ looks like a major player if this one switches to the dirt due to weather conditions but worth considering on turf as well considering his breeding, by Tapit out of a G1 winning mare who registered pair of victories on grass and a half to inner winner Asbaad. BATTLE OF BLENHEIM stays put off the claim, beat this same kind last time while besting a field that included trio of next out winners and two who returned to be runner-up in their subsequent starts. Just a matter of whether he’[ll hold his form off the recent freshening for new barn. TIZZARUNNER back on short rest after having little chance sitting back off slow pace vs. better on 6/26. Barn on a roll, need only repeat 4/23 showing to take another.

TWELFTH RACE

TEN MILES HIGH drops, has the speed to run away from these if away cleanly from inside gate. SULEMAN showing limited info on resume’ with only two published works prepping for bow but surely wouldn’t have to be much to win at first asking for barn doing well with fresh faces of late. OROSCOPO still winless in 18 tries but likely to hang on for at least a share second out for this barn.
