BEST BET: RACE 6, DRESS SHOPPING

FIRST RACE

TUCKER TIME did win his first three starts even if at minor tracks. It his fifth start that made us a believer. He tried two turns on the turf and finished third beaten only 2 lengths. It was his first start at a better track. It was his first start on the turf. Then he came here and tried a not so easy return distance of 6 1/2 furlongs and he finished third beaten only three lengths. Now he puts races together and returns to two turns. This race is very tough for the level so he could be the second biggest price on the board. CABIN JOHN was stuck between runners last out and that is never an easy spot. He has sprint speed on the stretch-out and lures the leading rider. ABOVE BOARD may not have cared for the slop in his most recent. He has tactical speed and draws inside all for the Diodoro/ Arrieta. Said barn has three runners in here.

SECOND RACE

LIL’ RED DEVIL was sent off at 14-1 in her return try so she probably needed that race. Connections drop her in class while working between starts so this could be the money run. All of her turf starts last summer were solid including one with a lot of trouble. Race flow is only average but you can’t have everything and a good price. STEAL THE THUNDER is feeling good, draws well, goes second time this barn, and puts the blinkers ON. LADY LANGFUHR did break her maiden on this sod. We like this jock with closers. A good price to entice.

THIRD RACE

Boy did CREATIVE ART look like a winner at the top of the stretch in his last race. He settled for the place as the winner just ran great. He cuts back a full furlong today but this guy is a hard trier anywhere and at any distance. He has more tactical speed than you may expect. Your deserving favorite. KELLER’S GOLD might be the value if there is such an animal in a Joe Six Pack field. He lost to a couple of very good runners in his last two races at Turf Paradise. That horse that beat him going 870 yards four back is a win machine (Circus Ride). Works are well spaced. RUN AWAY

BETT just won for fun. New barn is 14% off the claim. Eikleberry leaves for the rail runner but that is fine as Loveberry often rides for this barn.

FOURTH RACE

MALIBU JACK tried two turns and the turf in his debut and nothing is tougher in racing. He ran a credible fifth while earning needed race experience. The leading rider stays put and notice that this colt cost 275K. ALWAYS COOL is the other Joel Berndt runner. This gelding returned off the long layoff and ran well when finishing second. We thought it would be better. We thought his turf race last summer would be better also. Added half furlong helps and he puts races together. SILVER MAKER is by a 9% debut turf sire. His dam never tried the grass. Some of his sibs are very good but only one of three won on the grass. This gelding cost 800 grand. He found himself in a maiden claimer for 12K in his third start. Ouch. Curious as to price. MR. COUGAR is by a 2 for 7 debut turf sire. His dam missed the board in only turf start. Lone sib never tried the green. CHAMPS SUCCESS is by a 0 for 43 debut turf sire. His dam was un-raced. Two sibs never tried the green. ILLUMINATI is by a 1 for 6 debut turf sire. His dam missed the board in her only turf start. Lone grass sib is 2-0-0-0. DRAMA CHORUS is by a 12% debut turf sire. His dam went 7-0-1-2 on the sod and earned 17K. Lone sib never tried the weeds.

FIFTH RACE

SWEEPING EDGE is feeling good. He turns around quickly but that is a smart move for the Broberg crew. Form cycle hints at better and the leading rider stays put. PUBLIC SAFETY might be the value. He draws well and is bred to love two turns. He was stuck a bit inside in his most recent while facing stakes foes and ran evenly. This barn is 1 for 1 sprint to route. WATER PATROL goes for the hot Litfin barn. This gelding has always saved his best for this track. He just missed a Beyer top in his most recent (by one point).

SIXTH RACE

DRESS SHOPPING won on this sod just before the end of the meet last summer and did so easily even though she was stuck in the 12 hole. She returned a winner in most recent and went favored. Now she gets back to the turf where she has never missed the board. Notice that Diodoro finds a spot where this gal can’t be claimed. TRISH THE DISH beat special weights on the grass at Churchill only two back. Double layoff lines are of some concern. This filly has run here before and finished second in both starts so she likes it here. The Brinson barn is 27% on the grass and show a flat bet profit. LADY HIDEAWAY just won on this sod and did so in her turf debut. Her turf breeding is good. What if she is a new turf horse? The price will be great. Yes, older foes are very tough but that is partly why you are going to get said great price. BEWITCHY is by a 12% debut turf sire. Her dam went 2-0-0-0 on the green. Lone sib never tried the weeds.

SEVENTH RACE

DROP THE GLOVES is often right there and now goes third off the layoff. Canadian tries of late are fine. The Keplin barn is 71% with new runners and no that isn’t a typo. They are 40% on the dirt and 42% in sprints. Arrieta gets a leg up for a runner that has done all of his winning on this dirt. HERBIE might have the best speed even as he cuts back from two turns to one. He has never missed the board at this distance. Beaten favorite angle applies. BLUE JEANS N BEER has tactical speed and an outside post so a good trip is more likely than not. We thought his last race was good for the level. Form cycle hints at better. TRUE WEST is interesting if looking for a fourth in the supers.

EIGHTH RACE

CYCLONE DAN is by a 20% debut turf sire. Neither his dam nor two sibs tried the green. Race flow is fine. If this guy loves the grass and gets a fast pace then he could blow up the tote. GEAUXCRO is outside speed. He is feeling great and now goes third off the layoff. ROYAL PRIVACY is more speed. The leading rider lands here. This gelding has passed runners before. New barn is 17% off the claim. The 3, 5, 8, and 9 are all speed.

NINTH RACE

AMANDA STORY puts the blinkers ON and drops in class. At this level, that should be enough. Turf to dirt is a 24% move for this barn. FOXYS IRISH AFFAIR gets off the rail and tries this level for the second time. A new jock is noted as jockey Biehler sticks with trainer Biehler on our top pick. STELLATIDE did beat over half the field home in her return try. Why can’t she move forward here? She gets in light and is always a good price.
