SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Catch a Bid will look to build on her seasonal debut victory at Churchill Downs when she heads a four-horse contingent from trainer Chad Brown in Friday’s $85,000 De La Rose Stakes going a mile on turf at Saratoga.

Catch a Bid, a daughter of Real Solution, won a secondlevel allowance on the front end June 14 at Churchill Downs, but was able to get away with a soft pace. Still, Brown thought that was a solid enough effort off an eightmonth layoff. Catch a Bid won the Risakverse Stakes going a mile here last summer.

“She had a good winter, grown up, and got a lot stronger. She should be set up for a good year,” Brown said. “Two turns

are good for her. I think she’s lined up for a good race.”

Tyler Gaffalione, aboard for the allowance win at Churchill, is back aboard Friday from the rail.

Brown also entered Noor Sahara, Viadera, and Blowout in the De La Rose, which shares billing with the Shine Again Stakes for female sprinters on the 10-race card.

Noor Sahara, an Irish-bred daughter of Lope de Vega, finished third in a second-level allowance race at Belmont going 1 1/8 miles on June 12. Brown said that race was Plan C as a stakes at Gulfstream got rained off the turf and one at Aqueduct was canceled when the spring meet was scrapped due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We had to run her a distance I didn’t want to run her at,” Brown said. “I think she’s more of a miler, the distance will suit her. Second off a layoff I expect her to move forward.”

Irad Ortiz Jr. has the call from post 2.

Viadera, an English-bred daughter of Bated Breath, finished fourth, nine lengths behind Newspaperofrecord, in the Grade 3 Intercontinental going seven furlongs on June 6. Brown is hoping second off the layoff will do the trick.

Blowout suffered narrow losses in the Grade 3 Lake George and Grade 2 Lake Placid here last summer. She has not run since a runner-up finish in the Grade 3 Valley View at Keeneland last October.

Passing Out, a 4-year-old daughter of Orb trained by Shug McGaughey, comes off a third to Rushing Fall in the Grade 3 Beaugay at Belmont. McGaughey likes the fact this race is around two turns, and Passing Out did win a one-mile allowance here last summer.

“She ran awful good here last year,” McGaughey said. “I think she’s better two turns than she is like at Belmont. I think that’s her worst place, and she ran pretty good in the Beaugay.”

Xenobia was successful on the pace winning the Grade 3 Athenia at Belmont last year for Jonathan Thomas. She finished fifth in the Grade 3 Beaugay in her seasonal debut.

Clara Peeters and Hogans Holiday complete the field on turf. Bridlewood Cat is entered to run only if the race is moved to the main track.
