THIRD RACE

-

SANAVI ran a deceptively good race for the show in his latest, a race that was relatively short on pace, as he was moving fairly well through the lane despite being at that tactical disadvantage; makes his first start off the claim for trainer Greg Sacco, who better long-term stats than short term with new faces, and he should get a much improved race flow this afternoon. VINCENTO is another who stands to benefit from the expected pace scenario, as he’ll be looking to close and there’s a fair amount of early zip in this field; the one to fear off that solid last-out Beyer, earned at Belmont. NEIGHBORHOOD BULLY has been getting beaten up a bit against open claimers at Belmont but he should appreciate this class drop into a $5,000 claimer restricted to non-winners of a race in six months; likely to find these more his speed, especially if he gets a quick, contested pace up front.

FOURTH RACE

TEMPERANCE might be able to shake loose in the opening stages of this route, coming off a sprint try at Belmont where she set the early pace while under pressure from the start; she doesn’t necessarily need the lead, as she showed in her maiden win two back, but if she can get clear with relative ease it would give her a tactical edge on main rivals REAL DOOZIE and PEACEFUL FEELING. The former has some speed of her own, giving Ferrer some options, and she did face two of the sharper turf fillies at the Tampa meet in her last couple of grass starts, including Queens Embrace, who won the opening race of this meet; the latter weakened late after making what seemed like a winning move in her latest, at Belmont, and now gets back to a flat mile for trainer Kent Sweezey and jockey Joe Bravo.

FIFTH RACE

OUR MAN LUKE made a middle move to reach contention on the turn and continued that run into the stretch before he flattened out a bit late, yielding the place to a closing PIANZI but well clear for the show; moves all the way inside and can turn the tables on his main rival today if able to make a better-timed move. PIANZI is clearly the one to beat after running 2nd as the favorite in his local debut, at this same level; could just be too good for these, though he does loom a very short price for trainer Cathal Lynch, who does very well 2nd time off the layoff. BOOJ was part of the pace when in that same race as the top pair last time but he weakened in the lane after dueling from the start; could go much farther on the lead if he’s able to shake loose and control his own tempo.

SIXTH RACE

COMPLETED couldn’t have had much more traffic trouble than she did in her debut, first getting held up due to a lack of room on the turn and then getting stopped in the stretch when caught between the rail and a tiring rival; may be overlooked some in the wagering here, as the resulting Beyer is of course light, but she’s much better than that, and trainer Jonathan Thomas is extremely good with horses making their second career starts. POST RANCH makes her career debut for trainer Michael Stidham, who scored with firster Big Red Rocks here last week, and these two were apparently working in company; out of a Grade 1 stakesplaced dam (on dirt), this filly can be expected to come out running. ALL OTHERS FOLLOW adds blinkers after disappointing as the favorite in her first two starts for trainer Chad Brown, who is also represented here by firster CAPITAL STRUCTURE; it will be interesting to see how these two are bet but this filly does have experience and her Beyers do make her a threat in her local debut.
