BEST BET: RACE 1, LAST ENDEAVOR

FIRST RACE

LAST ENDEAVOR prevailed in a front-end battle before giving way grudgingly on his left lead in his encouraging debut in a shorter sprint Aug. 22. DE ONLY SOLUTION is a full-brother to the speedy juvenile winner Sailing By. GRAND GIZMO is adding Lasix off a distant fourth and is sent out by a capable second-out conditioner.

SECOND RACE

BOSCOBEL earned a 52 Beyer when seventh for $25K the last time she tried the Tapeta three starts ago. The daughter of Old Forester is adding blinkers for the drop to the $5K. WHAT’S THE RUSH is also dropping from $15K to the basement. The quick comeback isn’t ideal, but the 4yo daughter of Silent Name should be in the hunt. D’S MULLIGAN could round out the tri again if she runs her usual race.

THIRD RACE

AIM FOR THE SKY set a slow pace before coming up a head short at first asking on the grass. His pedigree is better suited to synthetics, and he should be dangerous in this 5 1/2-furlong maiden special on the Tapeta. CELEBRATORY faded in the final sixteenth to end up fourth after dueling up front in a recent restricted stakes for 3yos. He deserves another chance on the Tapeta, over which he hasn’t competed this year. Use RACING IN THE RAIN and CHECKERBOARD FLOOR underneath in the exotics.

FOURTH RACE

STRATE REMARK is dropping off a runner-up placing for his first try off the claim by a hot trainer. His go-to rider, Fukumoto, picks up the mount on the six-time winner. GUNNER BEN blew the break and clipped heels on the turn most recently on the inner turf, a subpar showing that you can draw a line through. KISSOFFIRE is back on the surface over which he crushed NW3 stock two back following a dull turf experiment. Use CAT ZAPPER in the tri and super.

FIFTH RACE

FINEST JEWEL nearly got the job done after a twowide stalking trip last time in a one-mile route on the inner turf. She’s questionable on synthetics, but her improving form makes her a contender in this $15K NW2 tilt. CHEEKY PINT is another turf expert in good form who could have a say in the outcome. SARARENDA is coming off a fade job on the inner turf. She beat $15K maidens in her penultimate start on the Tapeta.

SIXTH RACE

GO GIGI GO GIGI GO faded from a three-wide stalking position last time in her first attempt against winners. She was a gutsy maiden breaker the time before, and is dropping to where she could get back on track. GRATEFUL PRAISE is shortening up a furlong from seven-eighths off a front-running third in her second local outing. CLASSY N’ SILENT figures to take this field a long way if she stays in the zone. NANA SAV is another possibility as she drops off a $40K claim.

SEVENTH RACE

NO MO TEMPER never reached contention during a troubled trip last out in an N1X at this 11-furlong distance at Saratoga. Her previous race at Belmont wasn’t bad, and this third start of her form cycle could be a winning one under Hernandez. PEACE SEEKER is a candidate to stay the trip off a threewide fourth in a slow-paced N1X going nine furlongs on the Tapeta. GRAND MESA was third in both of her Tapeta starts at the meet, and probably deserves another chance on the lawn. Also eligible TONAPITA is worth a look if she draws in.

EIGHTH RACE

SLIP KID is dropping from difficult optional-starter company to meet much easier $10K claimers. The versatile veteran is changing surfaces to the main track and could mow down the speed on the outside under Kimura. CRAWL FROM THE BAR is making his first start as a gelding off the reclaim by McKnight, who sent him out to work thrice in the past month. R U WATCHINGBUD should be along to

pick up some of the pieces. KITTEN’S SOLUTION is getting some noteworthy class relief.

NINTH RACE

MIRIAM’S SKY checked in third after a stalking trip in a 7 1/2-furlong event on the inner turf a month ago. Note that he finished second the last time he ran long on the main turf last summer. AM PREPARED is back in against NW3 opposition after a wide/closing second in a fast-paced open $7.5K contest Aug. 21. ITSTARTSWITHADRINK is eligible to improve with Wilson taking over, and COUNTRYSIDE DRIVE could hit the ticket off the claim with blinkers on.
