BEST BET: RACE 8, MYCRAZYLIFE

FIRST RACE

SPANISH MATADOR has won two in a row, against $10K maidens and NW2 types, with Beyers in the 70s. The lightly-raced 4yo could keep his roll going in this NW3 tilt with Kimura replacing Stein, who’s sticking with speedy Conquistador. HURRICANE DANCER is dropping off a front-running fifth against much tougher for his second try off a $25K claim by McKnight. The Sam-Son cast-off came from far back to beat $25K NW2 stock early in the meet—an off-the-pace style could enable him to get back on track under Hernandez, who was aboard for the aforementioned score. IN A TWIST should be along to pick up some of the pieces with Civaci taking over from Stein.

SECOND RACE

SLIP KID prevailed in a front-end battle before fading to third in a longer sprint at this price Sept. 4. The durable 9yo used a closing style in his July 26 turf tally, and the switch to the patient Fukumoto suggests that he’ll be coming from off the pace here in search of his 16th synthetic track win. DISTINCT PASSION and MAS CHIKILIN finished sixth and third, respectively, in a key optional starter won by Western Trouble Sept. 19. The former is reacquiring blinkers.

THIRD RACE

SILENT RESPECT stumbled at the break before closing wide from off slow splits to drop a neck decision in a shorter $40K sprint Sept. 17, from which the first and third horses both exited to run big at the same class. FOXXY BELLE was a beaten favorite in two of her last three outings, most recently when dropping to this price from N2X company. The consistent mare is logical for the bottom of vertical wagers. MISS SAVVY was checked on heels and then her rider lost an iron during her subpar showing behind the top pick Sept. 17.

FOURTH RACE

ZOOMER MUSIC is dropping to the bottom while shortening up off a flat fifth going seven-eighths to the more suitable distance of three-quarters. His wide draw is a negative, but he possesses most of the highest recent Beyers in the field. PINKY DUDE is taking a huge and somewhat fishy drop from a restricted stakes. He was previously a minor player against NW2 OS/$40K opposition. A GERSHWIN TUNE is coming off a wide/slowstarting seventh-place finish behind the top pick.

FIFTH RACE

SOCIETY MISFIT got away slowly before rallying from ninth to third when going from $15K to this $5K maiden level two weeks ago. Stein is sticking with the 3yo, who might be poised to put it all together in his fourth start off the shelf. I HAVE HOPE made up ground on the outside to end up sixth over an inside-biased track in a recent $10K tilt that was taken off the turf. SENSATIONALIST is a wild card on the drop from $25K in his first non-turf start. I DANCE ALONE is another possibility.

SIXTH RACE

SILVER DAHLIA put up a career best 72 Beyer last time when beating NW2 OS/$40K rivals from a pace-pressing position under Hernandez. She’s versatile in terms of running style, and could rally effectively from off what figures to be a lively pace in this NW3 event. BETWIXTING is tagged for $40K off a break which began after she was a fast-closing second in an Aug. 30 N1X. SYSTEMIC RISK put away another front-runner before giving way late in a five-furlong turf dash three weeks ago. Use PINK SCRIBBLES underneath in the gimmicks.

SEVENTH RACE

RIDE A COMET has been working up a storm for his first start in over two years, a layoff which began after he defeated the hard-knocking River Boyne in winning the G2 Del Mar Derby. Casse’s long-term comebackers at this optional-claiming level have been deadly here in recent years, and note that Husbands was up for both of his local victories. DUN DRUM has been a disappointment since finishing third behind the mighty Pink Lloyd and next-out winner Silent Jimmie three back, but could wake up without warning. KINGLY has been plying his trade on the grass, but the son of Tapit was successful on synthetics in the past. He figures to lead the way, with BRASS COMPASS in close proximity.

EIGHTH RACE

MYCRAZYLIFE went four-wide on both turns before closing to beat $10K maidens in a fastpaced Tapeta route Sept. 7. His previous race on the inner turf was better than it appears at face value. SOCIETY JOE graduated two back around these tight turns before ending up fifth vs. $15K NW2 opposition going a mile on the main turf. ICE BLUE figures to rally for a slice of the pie. MAJESTIC MELODY could hang on for a piece after leading the way.
