GULFSTREAM
running in this $35K conditioned claimer, which doesn’t have much other speed. WAR CANOE is dropping to well below the $62.5K for which she was claimed 13 months ago following a series of competitive performances in NY-bred stakes at Belmont and Saratoga. CALENTITA rallied for a slice last time at GPW in her return from a layoff, which should set her up nicely for this engagement.
EIGHTH RACE
MOONLITE STRIKE is moving out to a mile off a game front-running maiden score going seveneighths in the slop at GPW. The son of Liam’s Map is bred to be a miler and could lead all the way while holding off another Saffie second-out winner, KIGER. The latter has worked extensively at Palm Meadows since annexing a one-mile maiden special Oct. 29, when he earned a Beyer that nearly matched the 72 which the top pick got. REAL TALK could only manage fourth as the favorite in a sloppy sprint stakes Nov. 14 at GPW, from which the winner exited to take the Inaugural Stakes at Tampa. He’s questionable going this far.
NINTH RACE
BEAM OF LIGHT beat two next-out winners when graduating in an Oct. 10 maiden special at Monmouth, and shouldn’t be out of her league in this N1X/optional claimer. Her lone start over the GP turf course was a prominent third-place finish in March that preceded a layoff. OSAKA GIRL checked in second in each of her last three N1X outings, most recently at Kentucky Downs behind a filly who came back to capture a $60K stakes at Remington (80 Beyer). Her tactical speed may come in handy after breaking from the outside post. HERA beat N1X/optional-claiming state-bred company in her latest and should be used in the exotics, along with GET REWARDED.
TENTH RACE
LITTLE RED FROG got back on track last time when third against $30K NW2 opposition at Aqueduct. The daughter of Munnings is descending to a new low in this $20K NW2 tilt, with TGaff taking over for Maker. DIVINE MARTHA crushed $35K maidens in a recent dirt sprint across town, after ending up second vs. $20K maidens on the GPW sod. The daughter of Take Charge Indy fits the mold of a fast-improving sophomore. BLUES SONGS could hit the ticket at a price if she fires her best shot. ALL ABOUT KATHERN came up empty in the slop last time in her debut for Eppler, who had a 13% strike rate second-time off the claim during the past five years ($1.69 ROI).
