Oliviaofthedesert, Simply Sovereign, and others will be looking for black type Friday in the $60,000 Trapeze at Remington Park.

The mile race for 2-year-old fillies shares a card with five other stakes. The program is led by the $200,000 Springboard Mile, a points race for the Kentucky Derby. The 13-race program has a special post of 5 p.m. Central.

The Trapeze drew 11. Miss Twenty is the lone stakes winner in the field by virtue of her victory in the Prairie Gold Lassie in August at Prairie Meadows.

Oliviaofthedesert is looking for her first stakes win after some close calls. She comes off a win in a first-level allowance at a mile Nov. 28 at Churchill Downs. The Beyer Speed Figure of 77 that she earned is the best career number in the field Friday.

“She’s been third in a couple of stakes, and we’d like to win one for her,” trainer Ken McPeek said. “She’s a good, solid filly. We’re hoping she takes it to another level. Any time you can get black type on a filly, you try to.”

Oliviaofthedesert is a daughter of Bernardini who races for Susan Moulton. She will break from post 2 under David Cabrera.

“She’s a filly that just gets in a nice rhythm and makes a run,” McPeek said.

Simply Sovereign is making her stakes debut for breeder and owner Winchell Thoroughbreds. She accounted for a maiden special weight at Remington in her first career start Sept. 24 and in her only other start was placed first after being impeded when second in an entry-level allowance at a mile Nov. 27 at Remington.

“She has a very strong Winchell pedigree,” trainer Steve Asmussen said. “Success in a stakes race is very important to us.”

Simply Sovereign is by American Pharoah and hails from a deep Winchell Thoroughbreds female family that includes her dam, stakes winner Simplify.

Stewart Elliott has the mount on Simply Sovereign from post 10.

“She’s a very handy filly,” Asmussen said. “She’ll be in close attendance.”

Tiz Splendid News also is making her stakes debut. She was fourth to Oliviaofthedesert last out at Churchill and prior to that won a maiden special weight at a mile at Keeneland.

“She’s going to be up on the pace,” trainer Wesley Ward said.

Leandro Goncalves has the mount from post 7 for Well Glory 81 Inc.

She’s All In Stakes

McPeek has another stakes starter on Friday’s card in Jeweled Princess, who goes in the $75,000 She’s All In. The race, to be run over a mile and 70 yards, is for fillies and mares and starts the stakes action at Remington.

Jeweled Princess, a 3-yearold facing older rivals, defeated her elders last out in a second-level allowance over seven furlongs Nov. 26 at Churchill.

“Her last race was super, and I think she’s a filly that has improved as the year’s gone on,” McPeek said.

Cabrera has the mount from the rail for Walking L Thoroughbreds.

“She’s a filly that’s going to come from off of it,” McPeek said.

Gold Standard and Istan Council are others invading from Kentucky. The field also includes Casual, who is a daughter of the millionaire racemare Lady Tak.

◗ The $60,000 Jeffrey Hawk Memorial brings together a strong cast of 12 older runners at a mile and 70 yards. The group includes Grade 3 winners Plainsman and Rotation, as well as multiple stakes winner Hunka Burning Love.

Signalman, a Grade 2 winner who drew post 12, will scratch and be considered for the Prairie Bayou at Turfway Park, McPeek said.

Plainsman brings the best last-race Beyer Speed Figure into the Hawk Memorial, a 93 earned for his fourth-place finish in an allowance Oct. 31 at Churchill. He broke from post 11 in the 1 1/16-mile race and was beaten 1 1/2 lengths in what was his first start since February. Richard Eramia has the mount for Shortleaf Stable and trainer Brad Cox.

Hunka Burning Love is back at Remington, where his wins this meet include the Governor’s Cup on Aug. 21. He is coming off his third stakes victory on the year, the Delta Downs Mile on Nov. 28. Ramon Vazquez has the mount for End Zone Athletics and trainer Karl Broberg.

◗ Dont Tell Noobody, winner of the $175,000 Oklahoma Classics Cup in October at Remington, is back in the statebred ranks for the $70,000 Jim Thorpe. The mile race is for 3-year-olds. Dont Tell Noobody defeated older rivals in the Classics Cup. Sophie Doyle has the mount from the rail for Danny Caldwell and trainer Federico Villafranco.

◗ She’s All Wolfe will be chasing her fourth straight win when she starts in the $70,000 Useeit, a mile race for 3-year-old fillies bred in Oklahoma. She’s All Wolfe is out of the millionaire She’s All In. Eramia has the mount for Robert Zoellner and trainer Donnie Von Hemel.
