BEST BET: RACE 4, TWILIGHT GALAXY

FIRST RACE

LULLULA showed much promise breezing on the turf and like the fact barn gives nod to first call rider. Lone caveat the fact sire yet to throw a winner on grass. KATIESDREAMGIRL overcame unlucky start to run second behind runaway winner who has since come back to win two more by open lengths. SHORT CIRCUIT turned in even effort at first asking despite tough start, wide trip and working well enough to expect forward move at second asking and on the stretch around two turns.

SECOND RACE

I GOT A SECRET did not break real sharp, got hung wide, still ran third behind runaway winner catching sloppy track in debut. Gets loads of class relief at second asking. Should be too good for these. OLD MAIN second best while posting far and away a career best Beyer in crosstown finale. One to fear if not bouncing too badly off the effort. MAJORITY RULES adds blinkers, may prove one to catch if away clean from the rail.

THIRD RACE

CALIBRATOR showed fondness for the lawn winning 2yo debut with good Beyer Fig now back to what may be preferred surface and distance off the lengthy layoff. Works indicate should be ready for top effort off bench. CRACK SHOT has changed hands for local bow, may not look back in this spot shortening to 5 panels here. HUSHED HIJINKS well spotted off maiden win, another who seems to be training forwardly of late turf and dirt.

FOURTH RACE

TWILIGHT GALAXY, the day’s best, gets equipment change after near miss vs. same kind last time. Hard to ignore with any improvement. AUBURN stuck in third gear with this kind but getting significant rider switch with Irad taking the call. NATIONALIST figures forwardly placed and knockiing on the door a couple of times in this condition.

FIFTH RACE

EXCHANGE DAY the only multiple winner in this field and with enough breeding for turf to get the call with red hot Saez taking call. FROZEN FUNDS overcame tough trip to win at first asking and should catch plenty of pace to run at once again. CARSON CITY KID among the speed types in this lineup while like preferred choice trying turf for first time. Must respect the class drop as well.

SIXTH RACE

MRS. MAISEL off the bench dropping to softest spot yet. Not badly in all previous tries vs. much better prior to hitting sidelines this summer. HY DOLLFACE handled turf sprints nicely on a couple of occasions earlier this year, worth a look at the price returning to grass today. FIGHTRESS may prove quickest of the lot if leaving the gate running. Not disgraced with much better here last winter.

SEVENTH RACE

WELL DONE WEST could return quick dividends off claim for barn sporting ridiculous numbers in that category. Expect to see him close up if not on the lead stretching to a mile off wide running sprint bow. EMPERADOR, a half to G1 winner Violence, disappointing last time in Kentucky but while in some trouble, racing a bit greenly late. Third could prove the charm for well bred sort. OR’EFFICE missed less than a length to 4/5 Candy Machine two back in N Y. In new hands for return to local soil, obvious threat if ready to fire top effort off layoff.

EIGHTH RACE

THINKABOUTIT could offer some value here despite exiting well graded maiden win trying grass for first time today. Has enough breed

ing to handle the surface. STORMING LION really returned quick dividends off claim stepping up 3 times in claiming price, adding blinkers to win CD finale. Has already shown he could handle the turf.

SWEET PEARL has run well in both previous inner course outings. Caught red hot I Get It last time.

SISTER HANAN will need some help in a pace less race but ran big one over this course last winter and appears to be training forwardly on dirt for return. STONE TORNADO the logical one but a beaten favorite in all four U S outings. GOLDEN CURL could benefit from the lack of speed in this lineup if aggressively handled from the start. Both turf efforts promising, could be ready for best yet on the sod.

TENTH RACE

A bit surprised to see BIRD MAP returning for this tag off series of solid works, class of field if anything close to best. LEO’S DIAMOND another taking big plunge down class ladder, perfect over the course having won debut here for $50K 10 months earlier. GITANA back to the main, a surface over which she broke her maiden two back. Does lose Zayas to top choice. One to catch.
