BEST BET: RACE 6, WHISPERING PINES

FIRST RACE

Lots of options to kick off the new week with lower level maiden 2yos on turf. MARLON B a new face to the category but barn has been hot, works look good and Saez gets the call. Well spotted for instant success. I AM THE GREY showed speed, faded late debuting vs. same kind, figures to improve with a race under his belt. Forwardly placed throughout here. RAULITO takes another drop in company, numbers say good fit but outside post and short price may not be a good mix if he gets in.

SECOND RACE

BON PRIX plunges to the bottom after showing speed, holding own vs. better in local bow. Looks nicely spotted today. MONEY COME a bit of a hanging type throughout his career but knocking on door at this level of late. GATOR FIFTY TWO not much to look at on paper but respecting that last work enough to toss in for at least a share.

THIRD RACE

MASTER OF DISASTER has been hung wide or knocked about in all previous starts, need only trip out clean for a change to graduate with this bunch. YOU’RE ALL RIGHT looks capable of clearing off, getting brave should he be able to relax long enough on front end. Figures a lot fitter than when setting pace, stopping latae two back over wet track at GPW. CON PERMISO beat 7 of 9 foes last time, may be on the improve at this time.

FOURTH RACE

Class droppers WICKED SPIRIT and ANTIGONE get top billing as most likely win threats in this one. Former back to the main off wide running effort in failed turf experiment, may offer some value behind logical Antigone. The latter also going turf to dirt but a beaten favorite in last pair. One to beat. SIMPLE STORY had some misfortune when rider lost irons last time, drops to a little more suitable spot and already proven at a one turn mile.

FIFTH RACE

PALACE KITTEN ran credibly vs. better last time and with the speed to perhaps take advantage of relatively pace-less affair. ALL GOOD exits troubled trip in local bow but a beaten favorite in six of last 12 starts and winless since April of 2019. Might be vulernable at year another short price. KING OTTOKAR a big question mark on the drop to selling ranks but must respect fact Saez takes the call while running from All Good.

SIXTH RACE

WHISPERING PINES, the day’s best, has shown speed in all previous starts while holding own with decent company in Kentucky. Beyers continue to head in right direction. Ready for diploma here. INTO CANDY brought $210K at the sales but waited a long time to finally make debut. Respect the connections, tabbing board for further evidence. AQAAREB adds blinkers after showing little following slow start debuting on turf.

SEVENTH RACE

Looking outside the box in this one, will try EXOGEN who has enough breeding for grass to suggest improvement could be forthcoming at a price in turf bow. Figures forwardly on stretch to a mile. PHAROAH’S GOLD the obvious choice after finishing second behind stakes tested Xtrema over the turf at Indiana Downs. GLITTER BAY should have the speed to take this bunch as far as she goes, perhaps just a question of how she’ll take to turf.

EIGHTH RACE

CONVICT PIKE the big question mark in this one plunging for $20K tag after facing better in all previous starts. Caught slop, poly in last pair. All previous infield races should have him right in thick of this one at the end. AUSTRIAN won an open $20K this summer at Churchill, returns to conditioned claimers after being a bit overmatched in last pair. SMALL HOPE second best vs. same kind last time but stretch running sort could be at disadvantage in field lacking much in early pace.

NINTH RACE

All the speed signed on here should be a plus for in form WALKOFF who has won three of last four and proven at a one turn mile. AVANT GARDE likewise figures to benefit from pace scenario and a pure win machine over the past several months. Hard to ignore. DANVILLE not badly beaten by Walkoff in their most recent start, might reverse the decision with a clean inside run breaking once again from the fence.

TENTH RACE

Like the opener, lots of options in finale as well. CASH REFUND showed promise in debut when hung very wide turning for home, finishing with plenty of interest down center of course against a pretty good field in N Y Adds blinkers, lures hot jock for local bow. CADENCIA slipped along the rail, steadied briefly, joined leaders midstretch before hanging late, finishing just in front of preferred one in pair’s previous meeting. A THING OF BEAUTY has been forwardly prepared as all are from this barn for bow and has enough turf breeding to merit respect debuting on the lawn.
