SIXTH RACE

-

MI TRES POR CIENTO finally got the right cut back in distance off the claim last time and came through with a solid effort to win going away with a 94 Beyer; right back at the same level for a trainer who is 5 for his last 15 coming right back after winning first off the claim in dirt sprints ($3.03 ROI). SECRET RULES improved from race to race early on while winning back to back and then finishing a good second in the Winkfield, which preceded a long layoff; good effort on the way back to chase down the speedy Chateau and hold second behind next-out Gravesend winner Pete’s Play Call with a new top Beyer. COST BASIS defeated a good field when breaking his maiden over this track early on and had trouble getting back to the races after that; good effort in the slop off the layoff two back when keeping after a solid pace and winning clear, and he was game without enough behind the top one last time.

SEVENTH RACE

Considering SAGUARO ROW’s prior exploits when fresh, her Garland of Roses can be looked at as a bit of a disappointment; willing to give her that one after chasing from the rail throughout, and her efforts over this track and distance prior to missing time, including a strong win in this race last year, would make her tough in here. PORTAL CREEK has taken her form to another level since joining this barn last summer, with wins in three of her first four starts for Guerrero, which were followed up with a career-best 97 Bryer performance last time to just miss in the Grade 3 Go for Wand; speed from the outside in an Interborough that may not be run at a fast pace. NEEDS SUPERVISION ran deceptively well behind a streaking winner off the layoff two back, then stretched all the way out and showed speed while once again bumping into a hot horse; prior stakes winner over this distance cuts back with tactical speed.

EIGHTH RACE

REMOANE switched from turf to dirt while dropping to this level last summer and got a bit unlucky when getting held up behind horses for a spell and then falling just short of an odds-on winner at the end; second off the bench after chasing a fast pace and tiring last month. HEY IT’S TATI debuted for this tag last summer and just fell short with a competitive figure in what remains his lone start over fast dirt; turf to dirt for this after rallying from the back sprinting on the grass last time. JUDICIARY caught a wet track for the third time in four career starts when dropped out of the MSW ranks last month; rates another chance for top connections over a fast track.
