FIRST RACE

TIZ LOTTIE is out of Culotte, who won her own career debut and went on to win a couple of stakes, and one of her two siblings to start, Stormymeister, also won first time out as a 2-year-old; this filly has a couple of nice works showing for this debut, especially the breeze on May 22nd. CANDY LUA is clearly a threat for trainer Todd Pletcher after that decent first start and Beyer; first starter out of the dam, Smooth Caramel, who won three races, all dirt sprints. ASYENA has run 2nd in three of four career starts and the only time she was off the board was in her first career start, when she was off slowly from the rail; dam Ever Always was a most fleet local sprinter and she’s produced three winners.

SECOND RACE

JOHNNY OBVIOUS was very game in defeat in his first start off the Asmussen claim pressing the pace from the start, and though he weakened late that sprint came up fast for the class and distance; back on the turf here, which may well be his best game. MR. EDGAR comes off an allowance win over this course, and though he benefited from a perfect set up and trip in that score he has to be respected off that running line; likely overbet here but clearly the one to beat. DUGOUT gets Lasix for his first start since March; has some speed and the rail and figures to be involved from the start, assuming he gets away cleanly.

THIRD RACE

MISTY TASTE has been away since April but she has the best Beyers in the field and she may have enough early speed to make the lead in this fairly paceless route, should jockey Nik Juarez choose to be aggressive with her in the opening stages; bullet work for this suggests intent for a barn that does very well with horses possessing swift works. FACTS ONLY finally broke through and earned her diploma in her 14th career start, and the resulting Beyer gives her credibility in this spot; needs to stay close if the pace is in fact controlled.
