BEST BET: RACE 3, HELL N WILD

-

FIRST RACE

OWEN’S TOUR GUIDE got away slowly after getting bumped at the break in her Nov. 20 debut on the Tapeta, and then came wide over an inside-biased track to prevail by a nose. She’s by a BC Mile winner, who’s sired 18% turf sprint winners, but there’s not much grass breeding in her immediate female family. SILENT GUROO graduated secondtime out at 2 in a longer main turf sprint before posting mixed results in two inner turf tilts. TRADING BAY is changing surfaces for her second start off the bench. She was fourth behind the likes of Queen’s Speed and Hello Friends in her lone turf outing.

SECOND RACE

TWIRLING MOON was beaten 30 lengths at first asking in a maiden special last September on the dirt at Indiana Grand that contained five nextout winners. The gelded son of good synthetic sire Twirling Candy is tagged here for $40K, and could make an impact with the addition of Lasix. BUTTERONMYTIE is by the solid 14% first-out sire Souper Speedy. His unraced dam produced Silver Rocket ($215K) and Kid Sparkle ($124K). Longtime maiden SEVENTH WONDER is a must-use on the bottom of vertical wagers in his return from a nine-month layoff.

THIRD RACE

HELL N WILD won three of five starts last year using her tactical speed, all at this second-level optional-claiming class. She’s a terror when fresh, and could mow down all the speed here under superb finisher Kimura. FLY SO PRETTY has been idle since a belated third in the Oct. 3 Duchess Stakes behind Boardroom and Our Secret Agent, both of whom went on to place in the G2 Bessarabian and G3 Whimsical. SISTER PEACOCK won her last two starts following a layoff, and could be the dominant front-runner.

FOURTH RACE

BENLION checked in third among three next-out winners the last time he raced at this maiden special level and seven-furlong distance on the main turf Oct. 29. The 4yo has worked decently and should be prominent at a square price. GIANT WATERS was along for third behind Stephen and Tio Magic (who’s since been a disappointment) in the nine-furlong Coronation Futurity for Canadianbred juveniles on the Tapeta Nov. 1. He placed in each of his three previous outings on the lawn. BODE’S TIPSY rallied for third behind the future Cup and Saucer Stakes winner Master Spy in a one-mile maiden special on the main turf Sept. 13.

FIFTH RACE

CANOLA WORLD landed on the edges in both of his races last year, including a flat fourth behind the future maiden special winner Celebratory in a fivefurlong dash taken off the turf Nov. 1. The lightlyraced 5yo is meeting a bunch of sophomores here and could put it all together with the capable Hoyte taking over. PINK GELATO looked the part of a winner before hanging late in his second straight runner-up finish as the favorite Nov. 22. The pretty strawberry roan should be in the hunt as an underlay. BOXER BRIEF closed belatedly for third in his Nov. 14 opener. He’s sent out by a hot layoff trainer, who’s fared okay when using Singh.

SIXTH RACE

WORKING THE TABLE faded to finish fourth and third in his two outings last August on the Tapeta. His hot sire Outwork has had 15% turf sprint winners, and his dam was an allowance winner going five-eighths on the lawn at Del Mar. VIEW FROM EGBERT is by the promising young 24% debut sire Reload, who’s gotten 14% grass winners. His dam dropped three turf winners from
