How to play

- By Ron Gierkink

SA RACE 3:

Sons of superb turf sprint sire Square Eddie could dominate this restricted maiden special. CATALINA EDDY got a 75 Beyer when second at first asking on the dirt and is a full brother to two turf winners. First-timer FINALLY AN EDDIE, a full brother to a pair of stakes-winning turf sprinters, worked an eighth in a quick 10 seconds at an Ocala juvenile sale, where he was an expensive buy-back (2).

GP RACE 10:

EXCHANGE DAY earned an 80 Beyer last out when third in a fast $50K starter allowance on the Tapeta and has since worked a fast half on the dirt. He has a solid turf record and seems to handle it as well as synthetics. BRIT’S CANDYMAN is another in fine Tapeta form who ran well on the grass here last winter. He’s eligible to improve off a claim by a hot barn, which has secured go-to rider EmmaJayne Wilson. FEELTHEBEAT had a productive 2022 campaign at Woodbine and should be a factor in his second appearance at this meet with leading rider Irad Ortiz Jr. retaining the mount (3).

SA RACE 4:

BIG SWITCH just missed after setting the fractions in a similar event when returning from a layoff a month ago. With top rider Juan Hernandez back aboard, she figures to track the stretchout sprinter Manorelli early before going in for the kill (1).

GP RACE 11:

Sharp Tampa shipper TAP DANCE FEVER has never been better and could spring the upset for hot trainer Gerry Bennett. KATHLEEN O., unbeaten in three Gulfstream starts including two Grade 2 stakes, is returning from another layoff and might not need one this time. CLASSY EDITION is exiting a fast (96 Beyer) first-level allowance score and could be the controlling speed (3).

SA RACE 5:

One could make a case for all six entrants in this competitive $25K starter allowance over nine furlongs on the grass (6).

THE PLAY: 1, 2 / 3, 4, 5/ 6 / 2, 5, 7/ ALL = $108 ticket
