SIXTH RACE

-

BREADMAN ran well off the claim three back when closing into a strong pace to just miss second; dropped back down last time and dominated with a strong move around the turn, after which the claim was voided; threat right back assuming all is well. SEANAN returned from the layoff as a new gelding and pulled clear of maiden claimers in a race rained off the grass; posted another blowout win two starts later at Finger Lakes and has taken steps forward since; off the claim again, this time for Rudy, and this race might not be as tough as that last one. ONE MORE SCORE took some class relief last March at Parx and drove clear late with an 83 Beyer after setting up outside a slow pace from the start; managed only one more start after that while up in class before heading to the sidelines; was first back from the long break last time when having to steady a bit early and then coming up empty; drops with competitive races to get to.

SEVENTH RACE

RIDE UP failed to break sharply from the gate and then looked green while back off a slow pace in his debut a month ago; wound up putting in a nice late run in that race to finish a gaining third, then galloped out strongly past the wire for a trainer who tends to improve her young horses through racing; can do a lot better here and is bred to stretch out. THERE BE DRAGONS didn’t look like a sprinter when outrun wide and then finished with late interest in his six-furlong debut; might have benefitted from a more aggressive ride when stretched out last time, but he still improved there after another outside trip; Lasix goes on and this distance might be perfect for him. EGYPT broke awkwardly and then looked very green while getting outrun early in his six-furlong debut here last Saturday; still acted green in the stretch of that race while passing some horses in a useful run and he has the pedigree to handle this added ground for a trainer sporting excellent numbers with horses like this - past five years, maiden, second career start, dirt: 11 for 36, 31%, $3.04 ROI; 4 for 7 in that sample with runners going sprint to route, $6.33 ROI.

EIGHTH RACE

KAZ’S BEACH is off a long layoff here but has so far fired fresh without fail in his career, including an upset win off a break in late 2021 with a new top figure; ran well off the bench in his first start last year when making an early move from off the pace and winding up between horses in the stretch, only to flatten out late, after which he managed only one additional start; threat at a price if he can come back with one of his good races. TODAY’S FLAVOR has taken three in a row in dominant fashion while using his speed and has earned three straight figures that are going to make him tough in here as the likely lone speed once again; out of state-bred conditions but still the horse to beat. TWELTH MAN doesn’t win very often but he remains consistent and is more versatile in terms of running style than it may appear; has run well over wet tracks recently but is also effective over fast dirt.

NINTH RACE

ALLABOUTTHEMONEY turned back to sprint for his NY debut last Saturday where he put in a good late run to gain quickly on a front-running winner and ran out of time; stretches back out looking tough if just showing up with his good race. COLLOQUY added blinkers last time and wound up contesting the pace for a long way with an in-form rival, only to weaken late as closers came along to run 1-2; ran better than it looks there and might still have some room to improve as the blinkers come back off. CALLALOO earned competitive figures in his last two starts and still holds more upside than any of his rivals in this spot; steps up right off the maiden win but has speed from the outside and might not have to improve much to win right back.
